1.0 THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Focus the academic program to promote excellence and build independent learning skills in resilience, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, communication, resourcefulness, creativity and leadership.

Signature Programs 1.1

Be a recognized national leader in each of our Signature Programs.

1.1.1 Enhance all Signature Programs to further challenge students, offer authentic experiences, and increase competitiveness for college admissions. 1.1.2 Create tangible products in STEM and Entrepreneurship Signature Programs. 1.1.3 Provide exposure to global awareness early and often throughout the Humanities and Global Studies Signature Program curriculum with virtual and authentic experiences including travel, international summer programs and global business topics.

Leverage the Discovery Center to expand learning opportunities in innovation, discovery, and industry for all programs and divisions.

Digital Age Skills 1.10 Provide each student with the essential skills and experiences required to succeed in a digital society.

Beyond the Classroom 1.11 Offer authentic learning opportunities beyond the classroom to bring real world experiences to student learning. 1.11.1 Formalize and enhance the internship program by strengthening partnerships and mentor relationships with parents, alumni, academia, government, and industry. 1.11.2 Increase opportunities for field trips, domestic travel, and international travel.

K-12 Curriculum 1.12 Fully align and integrate K-12 curriculum and culture to achieve a seamless transition across the divisions and prepare students to be proactive, productive, and successful members of the Bullis community and beyond.

Online Program 1.13 Grow the online program to advance individualized study and promote flexibility in scheduling and course offerings.

Provide a range of athletic opportunities to meet the diverse interests and needs of our expanded student body.

3.0 SUPPORT FOR STUDENT SUCCESS

Fortify and expand critical support for student success.

Instructional and Operational Support for Student Success 3.1 Pursue and retain high quality, diverse, 21st century-skilled, and adaptive Staff.

3.1.1 Implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract outstanding candidates, particularly in areas of strategic focus and growth (e.g. STEM, innovation, global studies, leadership, IT).

3.1.2 Increase staff diversity to better represent and reflect the student population.

3.1.3 Retain the best Instructional and Operational Staff with competitive compensation, innovative programs, and opportunities for development and advancement.

3.1.4 Implement flexible staffing approaches to fill special needs and gaps.

Plan for K-12 alignment, development of authentic assessments and differentiated instruction to ensure student learning at all levels. 3.2.1

4.0 RESOURCES FOR A HIGH PERFORMING SYSTEM

Evolve the business, IT, facilities, administrative infrastructure and school operating practices to support school growth, future programs and strategic initiatives.

Long-Term Financial Strength 4.1

Successfully complete the Discovery Center Campaign.

4.2

Increase the endowment from $10 million to $20 million by utilizing net current cash flow and reaching out to individual and corporate donors.

4.2.1 Develop and implement a five-year Fundraising Plan to raise $10 million by 2021.

4.3

Increase parent participation in the annual fund to 85% and pursue strategies to reach new families and outside donors.

4.4

Secure new revenue streams through facilities uses, strategic partnerships, international relationships, and on-line programs.

Operational Efficiency 4.10 Increase the efficiency and productivity of business management and school operations to optimize use of fiscal and human resources.

Technology and Information Management 4.11 Provide each student, faculty and staff member with 21st century digital tools for learning, connecting and operating in the modern digital age. 4.12 Evolve the IT infrastructure to keep pace with technology improvements and support advances in academics and facilities.

Physical Plant 4.13 Fully utilize new and upgraded facilities for Bullis academic, arts, and athletic events and showcase facilities to the greater Washington, DC community to attract additional students and diversify funding sources. 4.14 Prioritize the facilities plan and assess capacity to fund new academic, arts, and athletic facilities to reflect the long-term needs of the Bullis community.

4.14.1 Develop and implement a five-year Facilities Plan aligned with program needs and objectives.

Transportation Services 4.15 Align transportation services to support enrollment and growth targets and improve the efficiency of routes and student and parent experience.

Program Assessment 4.16 Develop internal metrics to track student success and identify opportunities to improve teaching and learning. 4.17 Regularly solicit feedback from instructional and operational staff, students, and parents to promote continuous improvement of programs.

Succession Planning 4.18 Cultivate a pipeline for school administrators and trustees to ensure the continuity of Bullis as a high performing educational institution.
