ADOBE 410, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (GLOBAL)
ADOBE 410, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA Adobe 410 was designed as a destination in San Francisco, so that Adobe employees who work in the other two buildings will be drawn to use this space. The building’s ‘Flex Space’ will include a dry bar and be able to accommodate any number of uses including an art gallery, allhands meeting space, or a place to hold caffeine-fueled hackathons. There may be no way to connect the three San Francisco locations physically, but we can bridge them socially by distributing employee resources between all three buildings.

ADOBE WORK ANYPLACE, SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA (GLOBAL)
ADOBE WORK ANYPLACE, SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA (GLOBAL) Fifteen years after the construction of their Headquarters in San Jose Adobe selected VDTA to develop the design and planning strategy for their next generation of Work Place. The original build out in the three Class A high rise office towers included 80 private offices and only 4 conference rooms. The proposed solution opened the floor plan creating a work environment that is collaborative, efficient and able to respond to the way in which teams are working on a more than ever competitive High Tech Industry. The goals of the project established effectiveness, innovation, flexibility and cost optimization as primary drivers following Adobe’s corporate commitment to sustainability. The pilot project is target to obtain LEED Platinum certification. Adobe’s new Work Anyplace space includes state of the art video conference capabilities, smart floor technology for the management of energy consumption and ultimately supports Adobe’s corporate mobility program enabling the optimization of the real estate. VDTA is working on the deployment of the strategy on locations across North America – New York, San Francisco and San Jose – and beyond to locations like Sydney.

SANDISK HEADQUATERS, MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA
SANDISK HEADQUARTERS, MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA VDTA transformed SanDisk’s existing 600,000 SF campus into their corporate headquarters. In order to
work environment that aligned with the company’s vision, a comprehensive architectural program was created, which dealt not only with typical quantitative information, but also addressed the qualitative cultural issues as well. The design team dove into the company’s culture through stakeholder interviews, data mining, departmental meetings, and workplace immersion. Through this, the team developed a comprehensive understanding of the “DNA” of SanDisk. The process resulted in a deep understanding of company culture, organizational relationships, and leadership goals. This knowledge became the basis for establishing the design direction for the campus. The facility includes an open and flexible office environment, allowing for a collaborative style of interaction among employees. The design also incorporates a number of campus amenities including a cafeteria, fitness center, 1,200 seat conference center, customer briefing center, and employee collaboration and training areas, all designed to enhance the employee experience.

VDTA is committed to the continued success of sustainable design and increased adoption of restorative design and construction practices. By integrating sustainable design approaches and technology from the project conception, the ideas become intertwined with the design, creating an environment that performs as an integrated whole. While LEED has gained popularity in recent years, there is a newer building certification system called the Living Building Challenge that takes sustainable building design to the highest possible level. There are only 3 Living Building projects certified today, with many more on the way, either in design or construction. Because the Living building Challenge is still a young certification program, your involvement in a Living Building project would generate much positive publicity for Ford Motor Company. Wouldn’t it be cool to build the first Living Building Challenge dealership in the world?
is currently working with the Living Building Challenge Collaborative: San Francisco to promote connectivity between like-minded individuals in the Bay Area. VDTA recently completed a Living Building Challenge building design for the Cleveland Design Competition, utilizing the experimental forum of a competition to help educate ourselves through process.
ADOPTION OF 2030º CHALLENGE VDTA is an adoptee of the The 2030ºChallenge, a voluntary program that sets energy design targets aimed at reducing carbon emissions from the operations of buildings. The definitive goal of The 2030ºChallenge is to design and construct buildings with zero carbon emissions by the year 2030. VDTA’s adoption of the 2030 Challenge is a featured article in the Jan/Feb 2010 issue of Green Business Quarterly
LIVING BUILDING CHALLENGE
