The acrylic latex material reportedly is flexible under changing temperature conditions, and cures to match most unpigmented mortar. When dry it has a rough grain texture that blends with other mortar.

Pre-Gut Home for All

An all-purpose, all-season home that a do-it-yourselfer, with the help of a few friends, can build is offered by Pre-Cut Timber Homes. Woodinville. Wa.

The basic material used is lock-deck laminated decking, a product of Potlatch Corp., in durable inland red cedar, finished on two sides.

All interior and exterior walls are constructed with the appropriate thickness for climatic considerations. An interlocking "T" joint, used to form corners and wall intersections, locks the timbers together so that a complete house can be assembled virtually without nails.

The package is precision pre-cut at the factory, part numbered for easy assembly, and shipped complete to the building site for erection. The homes comply with the uniform building code, meet or exceed all insulation requirements for heating loads and energy consumption and are approved for both VA and FHA insured loans.

The package includes complete floor system, including sub-floor, all solid wall timbers, all doors, pre-hung with jambs, all insulated windows, except for tropical climates where singleglazed windows are used, all trim, complete roof system, hand-split cedar shakes or composition shingles, all nails, adhesives, caulking and flashing. Not included are the foundation, electrical, plumbing, floor covering and cabinets.

Some 42 designs with square footage ranging from 600 to 2,700 sq. ft. in one, two or three levels with a wide range of custom options are available.

Before delivery the buyer submits required information to the permitissuing agencies. Application is made for water meter, power pole and sanitation facilities. The foundation is excavated with footings, sewer and water line trenches.

A pre-cut home arrives at the site aboard one or more large trucks with a forklift truck and operator. Detail construction plans outline each step of construction.

The Kutrieb waste oil heater turns crankcase oil, hydraulic fluid, automatic transmission fluids or any waste oil into 87,000 smokeless, odorless BTU's of heat.

A-H Super P, a super plasticizer of high molecular weight condensed naphthalene sulfanate liquid, has a powerful dispersing action on concrete providing water reductions of 2O-35Vo, increasing flow, early strength and concrete slump, providing a more workable mixture without sacrificing ultimate strength.

Rapid Roof, manufactured by Conklin Co. is a heat-reflecting, elastomeric roofing system.

Surface irregularities can be overcome with the flexible, monolithic membrane. A blend of acrylic latex resins, fire retardant ingredients and titanium dioxide pigments with superior heat reflectivity, the system is lighter than conventional builruo roofins.

It is applied by spiayer, b'rush or roller over a clean, dry surface including concrete, plywood, metal, spray-inplace urethane, existing builfup roofing and asphalt shingles.

Electrical Lead Flushcutters

A new series of low cost electrical lead flushcutters designed to provide extended cutting life is from Electronic Production Equipment Corp.

They feature a unique blade bypass that reportedly creates a shearing action for clean and easy cutting with reduced dulling. Suitable for cutting hard materials such as Kovar and Dumet, they are made of specially heat treated, high carbon tool steel.

With a highly polished, corrosionresistant, plated finish, the shear incorporates a return spring guaranteed for the life of the tool. Weighing only 1.5 oz., the 5" long tool is fitted with replaceable, insulated cushion grip handles, and can be provided with conductive handles.

Portable Shelter

A new lightweight, portable, freestanding construction shelter that eliminates costly job shutdowns and revenue losses caused by bad weather has been announced by Polydynamics, Inc., of San Francisco.

The air supported Polyweather System 19 enclosure permits work to continue without interruption due to wet or cold weather. It also makes second and third shift operations practical, since high intensity lighting is unnecessary. Uses range from pouring a foundation to completing a two story building.

The shelter can be erected at a cleared site on almost any terrain, usually in less than four man hours. No crane or special equipment is necessary. A 40'x60' shelter, for example, weights about 200 lbs., and all elements, including inflation system, can be carried in one station wagon or pickup truck.

It is made from a specially developed urethane coated polyester fabric that is strong, durable, non-echoing, and dirt resistant. Artificial lighting is usually unnecessary during daylight hours due to the translucency of the material. At night, ordinary incandescent lighting provides adequate working illumination. All seams are lapped and double lockstitched. Service life of up to ten years may be expected with reasonable care in usage.

Any size shelter is available, up to one large enough to cover a two storv building. Various entry options y available, up to truck drive-in siz, Space heaters permit shirt-sleeve lali in mid-winter.

Portable Mini-Sawmill

Brown Engineering Co. is marketing a portable, one-man mini-sawmill -hainsaw attachment which will pro;s timbers in anY dimension.

The semi-automatic sawmill con:s of a power drive unit oPerating off iactional horsePower two-cYcle :';ine. It runs on three rubbercovered rollers driven by a roller chain. Travel speed is governed by a throttle control on the power drive feed.

The mill attaches with two %" holes to a chainsaw bar and works on anY length or size of log. Three -size_s acc6modate bars from 28" to 60". It uses standard chainsaw mix for fuel'

The initial cut into a raw log is made on the top and governed with a wooden guide to assure a straight edge. A_second cut is made on the bottom of the log. The log is turned to expo-s-e a third side which also is squared off using a euide.

After the log is squared on three sides, a dial regulates a cut the depth required. It reportedly takes four minutes to cut a 24" wide slab of cedar l6'feet long.

Once the slabs are cut to the needed dimension, they are stacked on edge and sliced through for the second dimension.

The mill is adjustable for length allowing one size to accomodate various log sizes. The smallest mill, which sells for $690, operates on a chainsaw with a bar length from 28 to 36 in. The medium-sized mill accomodates a bar length from 36 to 42 in. and retails for $720. The largest unit operates on a 42 to 60 in. bar and retails for $745.

Tostado Ash solid hardwood plank paneling is new from the Townsend Unit of Potlatch Corp.

Manufactured in random lengths and widths %" thick, the paneling has deep V-grooves enhanced by natural surface marks.

It is shipped in easy-to-handle, protective cartons.

Wipe Out Graffiti
