Women's Lib meets Poul Bunycrn
Do men work os villingly femole boss os they do rnole?
for o fo'r s
No, I doubt if they do, or would.
Yes, whenever the busin€ss structure requires it.
Not yet.
This depends on the individuals involved (both men and women).
Yes. I think so in my case. Then again it depends on the individual. Some people can't get along with the boss, man or woman. If you can prove yourself they will respect you and do the job for you.
Do not know-have been a boss for many years, and the men are okay.
I think they do if she is as good at her job or better than he is.
The men who work for us certainly work as willingly for me as they do for my partner-and this has always been my experience.
Are you working ot o coreer or to help your husbond finonciolly?
To help myself financially.
Career. I am entirely self-supporti.g.
Career.
Career. I am not married.
It started as a financial help-now it's my career.
No-for financial reasons only.
Both.
Since I have no husband, I am

Are you in fovor of the generol ideos behind women's lib?
No.
Yes.
Yes.
What are they?
Radical ideas-No.
Yes, equal opportunity in jobs and pay.
I am in favor of equal rights for women, but women's lib appears to me as a very radical movement and like most radical movements it is irrational in some ways.
Whot don't you ogree with?
None of it.
[xhsrnisrn-in anything.
I would not like to lose my identity as a woman and a wife.
Equal pay for equal work and advancement for the qualified, yes. Marching, getting into men's clubs, stepping on men's toes just because they're men-no. It's just a few radicals that you hear about. Most career women have gotten good jobs by working hard for them, not by marchirg.
I still like to have a man open the door for me. I don't want to set that equal.
Burning my bra.

Don't know-I'm single. No.
I don't know.
No-not in my case anyway. No-for financial reasons only. No. Yes.
Do you work becquse you feel tropped or bored ot home os o housewife?
I think most married women work to escape responsibility of the home. When I was a housewife I felt that way. No. No. No. I have time for both. No. No. No.
Do some women work to brosden their educotion, moinly to help their children?
I doubt it. Frankly, most women work because they will not be satisfied with the salary the husband brings home.
Don't know, but it sounds like a plausible motive. It's posssible.
I don't know.
'Women work to fill their own needs mentally and physically.
Yes.
I suppose so.
I would be just guessing. Will women become more octiv€ in outside soles ond public contoct jobs?
Probably so.
Yes, if the interest of women in such work increases.
Yes.
Yes. There are not enough men available to handle all the jobs available in this.
Yes. Definitely. Yes. Yes.
I am sure that they will. Right now, I have job that I would put a woman in if I could find the risht womanit would involve outside sales.
Down deep insidc, don't you rcrlly ficel o women's ploce is in thc home?
Yes.
No, I feel everyone's t'place" is properly determined by his or her interest, ability and, of course, neces. sity.
No.
No.
No. A woman should do what makes her h"ppy. I have combined both and enjoy both.
Yes.
No.
Ne--I feel that every home occu. pied by a family ,,"ud. " woman's touch but some women are much better geared to being involved in the business world than they are to scrub. bing flgors.
Story at a Glonce
More Q&A on women's increasing role in the sale and distribution of lumber and building materials . as always, the women of The West come equipped with strong opinions . and they're not afraid to state them see the June issue, p. 10, for part one.

Don't you feel most women do?
I doubt it.
Yes. But I strongly suspect this is because society does not permit a socially.acceptable choice.
No. I don't know.
No. Statistics show no.
Yes.
No.
I feel that women who have chosen to stay at home must feel this way. I love my home but I would climb ihe walls if I had to stay there every day. Whot percentoges of women ore mcrely husbond-hunting so they con retire to home ond hesrth?
? ? ? 0 am-but alas, too late. ) w%.
Probably a large percentage of young women.
I have no idea.
I have no idea-but most of the women that work and set married don't retire, they continue to work. e0%. don't know, don't think working wives There again, it dividual. the men object Iike they used de.pends on the to to, in-
I have no idea.
I couldn't guess.
Outside of jobs involving hord physicol lobor, ore there ony jobs in the industry ot which you feel women will never excel?
Yes-sales jobs definitely.
I don't even think hard physical labor is a problem. Any woman who has scrubbed and waxed 1,000 sq. ft. of floor on her hands and knees after cleaning the family oven and moving all the household furniture will laueh more than a little at this.
Yes.
No.
In time women will be going all the way to the top-but it will take time.
Yes.
No.
Not really. How mony men object to their wives working? don't.
About fifty percent.
Not as many now because I think women want to work and help the family.
I would guess that many do. but having no first hand knowledge my answer would be just a guess. whv?
If it doesn't interfere with the hus. band's job, I don't think they reallv object.
Feel they should be at home with children.
I have no idea.
_ Perhaps egoperhaps the old theory that women belone in the home.
Do you think on opprecioble pelcentoge of working \romen moke more money thon their husbonds?
Doubt it.
If the husband and wife are in the same line of work-no. That's chaneing, however. If the work itself is nit "equal" obviously the pay can't be.
No.
I don't know.
No. No. No.
Again, I would just be guessing.
