Day 1-3

13 DAYS

Arrive in charming Luang Prabang and spend first couple of days exploring. You may wish to visit colourful markets or nearby Kuang Si Falls. Then it is time to begin cycling. Pass through picturesque villages before reaching Pak Ou to visit the sacred Buddha caves. Then head north through rolling mountains to the ethnic minority village of Ban Huay Pene. You will then continue by vehicle to the pretty town of Nong Khiew.

Day 4–6

Nong Khiew – Vieng Kham – Vieng Thong – Sam Nuea

Cycle through charming villages and the forest of the Nam Et-Phou Loei National Protected Area. Continue on through mountainous scenery before arriving in the settlement of Sam Neua, which is loacted near the Vietnamese – Laos border.

Day 7–10

Sam Neua – Nam Neun – Muang Kham – Xieng Khouang

Explore the town before heading off to Viengsay, the ‘cave city’ to visit the historic caves the town is famous for. Cycle further into remote territory to see the fascinating standing stones in Hintang and Tham Piu Cave. Continue onto Muang Kham, where you can soak your tired muscles at the hot springs. The next morning cycle on to Xieng Khouang to take in the mysterious Plain of Jars and enjoy a trip to the historic capital of Muang Khoun.

Day 11–13

Xieng Khouang - Phou Khoun – Luang Prabang

Vientiane Extension Extend your experience with a stay in the sleepy capital of Laos. Enjoy a guided tour of the most important historic and cultural sites in the capital. Besides visiting the main sights you are sure to appreciate the languid atmosphere and the faded colonial architecture of this quiet city.

Cycle to Muang Soui before driving to Phou Khuon whre you can explore the town’s interesting market before driving to Kioukacham. Your last stretch of cycling will be the final descent to Luang Prabang. Enjoy the spectacular scenery as you descend through minority village of the Hmong and Khmu. Later in the afternoon, you will arrive in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang. Enjoy an evening stroll along the river or hunt for last minute souvenirs in the town’s night market.
