A truly magical time

Christmas, New Year and the Twixmas break in between, is a truly magical time at Budock Vean. Many of our guests return year after year to relax and enjoy a traditional Cornish Christmas. Hosted by the Barlow family we have a packed schedule of events from Christmas Eve through to New Year’s Day to keep you entertained. Highlights include Christmas Eve carols played by our local silver band, the Trengilly singers, a visit from Father Christmas and our Christmas Day Grand Buffet Lunch. We’ll also have friendly sports and games competitions, casino night, quizzes, guided walks and a chance to dress to impress at our Dinner and Dance. The Natural Health Spa will be open throughout the festive period and the team are ready to pamper you. Our Elemis, Elemental Herbology and CBD range of treatments will leave you feeling fantastic inside and out. Plus there is our new Winter Seasonal Specials to try. Christmas wouldn’t be the same without indulging in some delicious food. Our team of Chefs will expertly prepare the finest Cornish festive menus for you to enjoy. 23rd December Our 10 days of Christmas starts. Limited Club Stableford golf competition from midday. Or head into Falmouth for some last minute Christmas shopping. Pendennis Castle, National Maritime Museum and Trebah Garden will all be open to visitors

24th December

Christmas Eve

Use your free time today to visit a local attraction or do some last minute Christmas shopping

Constantine Silver Band will be playing a selection of carols in the entrance hall.

Champagne welcome reception in the Cocktail Bar, hosted by the Barlow family. An opportunity to meet fellow guests over a glass of bubbly prior to dinner.

7.00pm

Candlelit Christmas Eve dinner with the ‘Trengilly Singers’ choir singing around the piano.

10.15pm

Shuttle service to Mawnan Smith Parish Church for Christmas Eve service. Complimentary mulled wine and mince pies will be available on return.


25th December

Christmas Day

9.15am

Visit from Father Christmas during breakfast.

Four Ball Better Ball golf competition.

11.00 - 3.00pm Guess the weight of the Christmas cake competition. See Reception for details. 12.30pm

A Champagne welcome reception in the Cocktail Bar hosted by the Barlow family. An opportunity to meet fellow guests over a glass of fizz.

Celebrate the New Year with our four course ‘Dinner & Dance’. Dance the night away to our band and support disco. Dress code: Black Tie. The Dinner Dance has a house-party feel, and for those guests who are still going at 1.30am, haggis, neeps and tatties will be served, washed down with a whiskey!

1st January

New Year’s Day

8.30am 12 noon Hair of the dog! Bucks Fizz breakfast/brunch.

2/3 mile circular walk from the hotel. Meet your guide, Steve Crummay, from Explore in Cornwall, in the entrance hall.

New Year’s Day dinner.

2nd January Traditional English breakfast to prepare you for the journey home.

Christmas & New Year Tariff 2019 All the charges listed are per person and fully inclusive of cream tea, four-course dinner, bed, breakfast, golf, tennis, programmed entertainment and VAT. All hotel bedrooms are en-suite and come with bathrobes, slippers, swimming towels, telephone, hairdryer, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and clock/radio. The room tariff is as listed below, except our new Signature Suite, room 6, which carries a supplement of £70 per night. You can stay in our cottages and enjoy the full festive programme at the quoted Superior room rates below. Our new holiday homes are available at our usual seasonal rates. The Christmas programme starts with cream tea on the day of arrival and includes a two-course buffet lunch on two days – 25th December served in the restaurant and 26th December served in our bar and lounge. The charges are as follows, which incorporate progressively lower daily rates for longer staying guests.

Tariff Notes: Children Children having early dinner and sharing parents’ room pay 30% of full rate. Children age 6 to 14 having dinner and sharing parents’ room pay 50% of full rate. Limited number of family suites available on request. Breakfast and dinner is provided for families with children under 6 in the Country Club Room. Children aged 6 and over can join parents in main restaurant except New Year’s Eve where an early dinner is provided for children under 11. Dog Charges Dogs are accepted by prior agreement at a cost, excluding any meals, of £10.00 per dog per night. Please note dogs are not permitted in any of the public rooms. We have a designated woodland area within the grounds where dogs can be exercised off the lead.

Deposits and Cancellations For Christmas and New Year’s Eve, you are required to confirm your booking with a deposit of £100.00 per person (excluding children sharing their parents’ bedroom). This deposit will be refundable without question, for any cancellation received by 30th September. We will require your confirmation by the 30th September, with a further non- refundable payment to increase your deposit to 25% of your total accommodation cost. We advise all guests to obtain Holiday/Travel insurance. Policies can be obtained at reasonable rates from a Post Office or insurance broker. Cottages and Holiday Homes You can have the space and privacy of a cottage but enjoy the full festive programme at the given rates, or self catering only at our usual rates and we’ll add a decorated Christmas tree and welcome gift for you.

Dinner Dress With the exception of our New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance where the dress code is ‘black tie’, we do not have a formal dress code. We do ask our guests to dress smartly for dinner though and to make it a bit of an occasion, so jackets for gentlemen preferred please (no shorts, t-shirts, trainers please).
