About Us

We have been creating beautiful gardens in Doylestown and the surrounding communities for more than 50 years. We began as a small wholesale nursery and landscape company and have grown to be the area’s most complete garden center and landscape design/build firm. Our projects range from small townhouse gardens to estate property development, with a concentration in backyard living areas for mid-range properties. We take great pride in our attention to detail and

our focus on creating truly livable gardens respectful of the environment and appropriate to our client’s lifestyle, taste and budget. Perhaps more important than what we do is who we are. You expect an educated, experienced and talented team and we deliver. But we also deliver dependability, respect and courtesy. We work with you to make every project our priority and every client our friend. We invite you to experience the Bucks Country Gardens difference; experienced professionals creating exceptional landscapes and lasting relationships.

Our Goal

Our goal is simple… to create a garden that makes you smile.

And after considering all that and a whole bunch more, we

Getting there is not so simple… We need to know who you are and what makes you tick, what you do in your spare time and how much you have, your style, your taste, your favorite things and the things that make you crazy.

create a garden just for you. Perhaps a restful space or maybe an inspirational one. An expansive lawn for active play or a or an intimate nook and a table for two. Chances are, your perfect garden may not be perfect for anyone but you. That’s when we know we’ve achieved our goal and that makes us smile.

Our Services WHAT IS DESIGN/BUILD? It is both the design and installation of a landscape project performed by one company. The alternative to design/ build involves the design and specifications created by one company (Landscape Architect or Designer) and the installation performed by another (Landscape Contractor). At Bucks Country Gardens, our Landscape Designers work directly with our clients from the beginning of the project to the end – managing the installation in addition to creating the design. The result is a seamless process based on direct accountability and personal relationships.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: 1. A client phone call or completed Landscape Services Request Form from the Garden Center starts the process. One of our Landscape Designers will discuss with you both your needs and our services. 2. A site visit will be scheduled to review the specifics of your project and how we can provide the most appropriate service. Immediate on-site sketch plans and cost estimates may be used to address simple projects and determine feasibility. In most instances, a complete site analysis and client interview is conducted from which a design is created. 3. Detailed, professional landscape plans and specifications are required on most projects. We will show you examples of our work and provide referrals upon request to help you decide if you and Bucks Country Gardens are a good fit. More than 80% of our landscape and hardscape projects are referrals and repeat clients. 4. The landscape design and project proposal will be presented. We recommend this take place at the Garden Center where you will have the opportunity to review and

Modifications, amendments and additions to the plan are finalized and the project is approved and scheduled. 5. The installation of your project will be supervised by our production manager together with your designer. Experienced and certified Bucks Country crews and our selected contractors will complete the project professionally, courteously, on time and on budget. 6. Your project will be reviewed and approved and the regular care needed to insure your success will be presented to you along with our seasonal maintenance services. Should you have any questions or additional needs at a later date, our Garden Center is open daily for your convenience. Trained horticulturists, designers and outdoor living specialists are always on staff to help should your designer be unavailable. At Bucks Country Gardens, we have everything you need to add your personal touch to your project – from seasonal planters and garden décor to casual furniture and more. What’s Your Garden Style? CONTEMPORARY

Inspired by contemporary home styles, this garden is perfect for homes with limited outdoor space. The focus is on living space and hardscape. Structure, clean geometric lines, and simplicity can make otherwise small areas feel much larger. Limited plant material is used to create dramatic effect and themselves become structural elements. Limited plantings provide a lower maintenance garden.

COTTAGE These gardens are informal and have little to no symmetry. This style relies heavily on charm and color throughout the season. Early versions were of practical use: being the grocery store and pharmacy of a home. Modern cottage gardens are based heavily on flowers and foliage, as kitchen and vegetable gardens have taken the historical role. Owners of cottage gardens must prepare for an abundance of fresh cut flowers and a good amount of garden work.

We Design. We Build. We Manage. We Guarantee. It is our job to inspire you. It is our experience that guides you through all facets of the design and installation process. It is our passion that educates you and transforms your outdoor space into an extension of your home. From planning to install–from planters to estate development–we are there. Welcome to Bucks Country, now let’s get growing! tures of this style are gently rolling terrain, water–such as ponds and streams, and clumps of trees. Other features you may find are mass plantings of shrubs and perennials, gravel and mulched walkways, and sweeping bands of color from annual flowers and bulbs. The key to this type of garden is to mimic nature. It is well adapted to expansive back yards on larger properties. There is little variation in plant material, using only a few species and repeating them throughout the landscape. The benefit to these gardens is that they require little maintenance with subtle color elements.

FORMAL

FORMAL

These gardens are often symmetrical and rectangular in shape. The plants are carefully selected and placed in specific locations throughout the garden and are continually maintained and shaped to achieve a desired effect. Common focal points within the gardens are fountains and sculptures. In its simplest of layouts, formal gardens may contain an evergreen box-trimmed hedge carefully laid out to enclose a mass planting of one specific variety of annual or perennial. This style can be easily adapted to front foundation or entrance gardens as well as gardens surrounding outdoor living areas.

NEW AMERICAN

NEW AMERICAN

This style, still in the throes of evolution, starting in the 1960’s with Oehem van Sweden and Assoc., a landscape architecture firm with a passion for native landscapes. You can see this new wave everywhere in the masses of ornamental grasses with drifts of native wildflowers such as Coneflower, Black Eyed Susan, and Salvia. Looking at reflecting nature in the design process and whether it is sun or shade, this style can fit the bill. Plants are installed in mass, and are meant to blend, therefore maintenance is minimal.
