Brief
NYC Apt. Wall - Max 84”W. No landscapes, pastels, dominant blue or purple, smoking / cigarettes.
Given the very open brief, we returned our thoughts to the client and who she is and the choices we know she has made already in her interior spaces.
We went through a number of options and settled on a narrative interior, taking on what we knew about the client, preferences and the existing choices within the apartment. To complement the monochrome abstract and the overall clean white feel of the interior, but understanding that they enjoyed contained but beautiful colour that wasn’t overwhelming. We felt that an interior with women in a closed or private setting, such as having tea or drinks within an elegant salon setting might respond in a way that Paul could deliver something remarkable.
The fashion is loosely led by Dior and Chanel and that of the 1950’s. We also looked at the real life interiors of Dior and Chanel and similar to create the following images. None of them are perhaps perfect, and elements can be drawn from one into another. Lighting, colouring and architectural composition can be adjusted so please take these in that light. If your client likes the premiss then we can work from that point to fit with her. It is our view at this stage that this could work in almost any format, but mostly likely square or square to portrait (ie only slightly taller than wide) however we have only seen a restricted view of the wall and do not have full dimensions so that may change.

The first two images are our preferred compositions. We thought on this one removing the two standing figures and replacing with a standard lamp and substitute the painting with a mirror. Colours can changed but we liked the intimacy of the setting.

There would be many colours used but the overall feel would be this level of warmth to match the energy of the ladies.
If the client prefers it could be ‘cooler or lighter. Our thoughts were solely on a complement to the subjects, the room and the view from the window and pulling all those together.
