This class is designed to increase strength, range of motion, balance, agility, coordination, and to improve participants physical fitness level and a sense of well being. Participants will be required to bring their own fitness equipment.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE

Ages: 18+

Alex will be offering virtual sign language courses for Level 1, Level 2 and Continuing in Sign Language (Level 3 and up).

YOUTH 1 TO 1 BASKETBALL CLINICS Age: 6-14

$10 per session Miller Recreation Center Sa 12/12 8:00 AM-11:55 AM Sa 12/19 8:00 AM-11:55 AM Sa 12/26 8:00 AM-11:55 AM Each 25-minute clinic will be run by one staff person and they will provide individual instruction, which can include a sibling living in the same household. Focus will be on basketball fundamentals and emphasis placed on skill development.

BPRW BASKETBALL CLINICS

Grades: 1-8

$40 Resident / $40 Non-resident Boys & Girls Club or Miller Recreation Center Sat 1/9-2/27 9:00 AM-12:45 PM There will be nine Saturday clinics that will be led by BPRW staff and volunteer coaches. Focus will be on basketball fundamentals and emphasis placed on skill development, teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, the value of fair play and having fun. Scrimmaging will take place to reinforce skills taught. All skill levels and abilities are encouraged to participate. VOLUNTEER COACHES ARE NEEDED FOR THIS PROGRAM Please contact Jen Cotton, jcotton@burlingtonvt.gov if you’re interested. Mandatory background check and concussion training required. Alpha Youth Sports coaching platform will be a resource for all coaches.

SOCCER SPARKS

$50 Resident / $60 Non-resident O.N.E Soccer Sparks offers age-appropriate soccer classes for kids ages 2 to 12 in a low pressure, high skill learning environment. The Soccer Sparks approach utilizes fun and games so that children develop a passion for soccer without the stress of competitive play. Taught by USSF Nationally Certified coaches, Soccer Sparks’ all-ball training techniques help kids meet their maximum potential while emphasizing fair play and enjoyment of the sport.

Dribble, Kick, Pass!

Ages: 4-5 Session 1: Sun 1/3-1/24 10:15 AM-11:00 AM Session 2: Sun 1/31-2/21 10:15 AM-11:00 AM Designed to spark an early passion for the game. This class will encourage greater retention of foundational soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting in a positive environment. Our curriculum includes fun and energetic games that teach kids about playing within a group.

Kick the Ball!

Ages: 3-4 Session 1: Sun 1/3-1/24 9:30 AM-10:00 AM Session 2: Sun 1/31-2/21 9:30 AM-10:00 AM Helps kids develop their large motor skills and get them running, dribbling, and kicking the ball while having lots of fun. The kids learn the very basics of the game through skill demonstrations and games as they transition from parent assisted to individual participation.

Kickin’ with the Parents

Ages: 2-3 Session 1: Sun 1/3-1/24 8:45 AM-9:15 AM Session 2: Sun 1/31-2/21 8:45 AM-9:15 AM By playing fun games, children improve their blossoming balance, coordination, and general motor skills. Aside from learning how to dribble and strike a soccer ball, children and parents also get the opportunity to share those first, unforgettable, goal-scoring adventures together.

Youth Soccer (6-8)

Ages: 6-8 Session 1: Sun 1/3-1/24 11:15 AM-12:00 PM Session 2: Sun 1/31-2/21 11:15 AM-12:00 PM Dazzle with your footwork! The Soccer Sparks 6-9 year old class utilizes the all-ball approach to foster skill improvement and build player confidence. Players will learn to solidify such skills as dribbling, passing, trapping, receiving, juggling, and accurate shooting in a supportive team environment.

Youth Soccer (9-12)

Ages: 9-12 Session 1: Sun 1/3-1/24 12:15 PM-1:00 PM Session 2: Sun 1/31-2/21 12:15 PM-1:00 PM This class will introduce the fundamental soccer techniques along with intermediate skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting. Based on the soccer game the class will involve plenty of diverse movements and provide a great physical exercise and development for the players.

ITTY BITTY BASKETBALL

ITTY BITTY SOCCER

Ages: 4-6

Miller Center Wed 1/6-1/27 5:30 PM-6:15 PM Parent and child work together to build defensive, dribbling, shooting and passing skills. We will use 8 foot baskets and rookie size basketballs. All participants receive a t-shirt and a basketball.

Miller Center Sun 1/10-1/31 10:15 AM-11:00 AM Coaches provide instruction as parent and child work together to develop motor skills necessary to succeed in soccer and to prepare child for team play, which begins at the kindergarten level. Participants will receive a soccer ball and t-shirt.

ALL-GIRLS TECHNICAL SKILLS SOCCER CLINIC

Ages 5-12

$60 Resident / $70 Non-resident Miller Center Sun 2/7-3/14 New to soccer? Been playing a few years? A fun, challenging, empowering and confidence building experience is waiting for all of you! We will work on first touch, ball skills, moves, dribbling, shooting and passing, and be able to play small sided-games each session. Sessions will be run by Laura Ray and assisted by professional staff. Laura Ray is a former collegiate coach, college player and semi-pro player (Arsenal, Liverpool Feds, Finger Lakes Heartbreakers), and before moving to Vermont, has worked as a coach educator and youth player development specialist in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. This is clinic is for girls, including trans and gender non-conforming youth. 

SOFTBALL PITCHING CLINICS

Ages: 8-18

$60 Resident / $70 Non-resident Miller Center Thu 1/7-2/4 5:15 PM-6:15 PM Led by pitching expert, Dave Allerton, girls will learn the mechanics of the fast-pitch softball pitching motion. Suitable for beginners and more advanced pitchers too. He will also cover how to warm up for a game and how to throw different pitches. Each pitcher MUST bring their own catcher for the clinic.

VACATION SKATING LESSONS

Ages: 5-13

$35 Resident / $45 Non-resident Leddy Park Arena Session 1: 12/28-12/30 10:30 AM-11:15 AM Session 2:12/28-12/30 11:45 AM-12:30 PM These fun classes for beginners and advanced beginners ages 5 and up are a great way to introduce children to skating and practice and improve skills. Classes meet Wednesday-Friday. Skaters will be grouped by ability for instruction. These lessons are appropriate for beginners up to level 4 (learning crossovers) skaters.

DECEMBER VACATION CAMP

Ages: 5-11

$39 Resident / $49 Non-resident Miller Center Mon, Tue, Wed 12/28-30 8:30 AM-4:00 PM This licensed vacation camp is for school aged kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. The camp will provide your kids with fun, excitement, friendships, and outdoor play. A daily cold breakfast, cold lunch and afternoon snack will be provided. Childcare subsidies are accepted. Sign up for individual days or all 3 days. The regular camp program begins at 8:30A and ends at 4:00P. The deadline for registering for the December Vacation Camp is Friday, December 18th!!
