Learn and enjoy many aspects of the game in a competitive environment from a current professional player. Fundamentals and sophisticated techniques will be taught on an individual level along with group instruction by Camp Director Bo Vuckovic and other Vermont Voltage professional players. Emphasis is placed on development, improvement and refinement of basic playing skills, along with conditioning to prevent injuries and improve the young athlete’s coordination and flexibility. Bo stresses the development of a positive self-image, mental stimulation and a sense of respect and sportsmanship among players. All participants get a soccer ball and a t-shirt. Code

JUNIOR MILERS: PEOPLES UNITED BANK VERMONT CITY MARATHON YOUTH RELAY TEAM

Grades: 6-12

Cost: $150 Cap: 15 participants

Dates: 3/7-6/6 Middle and High school students can train to run the relay of the People’s United Bank Vermont City Marathon as a Junior Miler! Sign up individually or with a team of 5, previous running experience not needed. Cost includes over 20 practices with trained running coaches, fitted pair of running shoes, entry into the relay of the Peoples United Bank Vermont City Marathon, and race day t-shirts. Champ Camp

Grades 1-3 and 4-6 Resident $175 / Non-Resident $195 per week (Session 2 is $140 / $160), Early Care available for $25 additional per week Locations: Champlain Elementary or CP Smith Elementary Mon-Fri, 9:00A - 5:30P (Early Care: Mon-Fri, 7:30A - 9:00A) Champ Camp is a state licensed school age child care/day camp program for children entering grades 1-6 in the fall. We offer the camp at two sites within Burlington. Activities include arts and crafts, swimming, recreational games, athletic activities, music, nature walks, special events and weekly field trips. This camp gets your child on the move each day, making new friends, and collecting lots of summer camp memories! Includes daily breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. Sign up for one or more weeks throughout the summer. Families requesting scholarships or applying for child care subsidy must register by calling our main office at (802) 864-0123. TALENT SKATE CAMP

Ages 5 -14 Resident $125 / Non-Resident $145 A_Dog Skatepark Come to the Andy “A_Dog” Skatepark and learn from some of Vermont’s finest boarders. This camp is geared towards skaters with beginner to intermediate skills. Professional staff will be directing the camp and teaching participants tricks such as pushing, ollieing, dropping in, board slides and grinds. All skaters must have helmets that clip shut, wrist, elbow and knee pads. This is a skateboarder camp (sorry, no scooters, inline, or bmx bikes).

Kids improve chess skills, meet new friends, and work out their most powerful muscle – the brain! Activities include fun team chess games (like bughouse), recess time (of course), snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. Chess Wizards has been teaching the game of chess since 2002. Their interactive curriculum makes learning fun for new and seasoned players alike. Resident $185 / Non-Resident $205 UVM Adventure Ropes Course in Farrell Park (South Burlington) Join the UVM Adventure Ropes Course Staff as you push yourself to try new things and climb to new heights in this exciting camp based at the UVM Adventure Ropes Course. COOL CAMP

Ages 5 - 14 Resident $170 / Non-Resident $190 Leddy Park Arena Each session of Cool Camp features nearly two hours each day of skating time on the ice, as well as swimming, games, crafts and activities. Campers are grouped by ability for skating instruction. Appropriate for beginner skaters to those at the preliminary level. Campers may register for one or more weeks. DISC GOLF CAMP

Ages 10 - 15 Resident $85 / Non-Resident $95 Leddy Park Learn and practice all aspects of the game of disc golf, including stretching, putting, driving, uproaching, sidearms, backhands, and rollers. Professional disc golfer and GMDGC president, Chris Young, will bring 15+ years experience as a player and organizer to share lessons about technique, disc types, etiquette, growth of the sport and Vermont disc golf leagues, clubs and events. The United States Junior Disc Golf Championships, along with the Professional World Championships will be held in Vermont in 2018 and information and first hand knowledge of these events will be shared as well. Discs will be provided for the participants to use for the camp and disc golf baskets will be setup for a daily 9 hole course. Combine this camp with the Ultimate Camp for a full day of throwing discs or at Leddy Park. Code

MAVEN SKATE CAMP

Ages 5 -14 Resident $125 / Non-Resident $145 A_Dog Skatepark In a creative and safe environment that promotes wellness and encourages communication, growth, perseverance and happiness, campers will progress to the next level of skating. Beginners will learn skateboard mechanics and basic riding skills such as balance, pushing, turning, stopping, riding transitions, and dropping-in. Advanced skaters will have the opportunity to drop in on bigger obstacles/features, and learn more challenging tricks. Skaters will be assessed on the first day of the camp to establish skateboarding goals. Lessons will be adapted to each individual’s ability. All participants are educated in skateboard safety, including skateboard maintenance and skatepark etiquette. If there are any rain days, campers will explore skateboarding through music, art and culture. Campers will have the opportunity to design and paint their very own skateboard deck, as well as navigate different art mediums related to the skateboard culture. Campers are responsible for bringing their own complete skateboards, safety equipment and water bottles. Combine this camp with the Waterfront Adventures Camp for a full day on the Waterfront!

ULTIMATE CAMP

Resident $85 / Non-Resident $95 Leddy Park Want to play a fast-paced disc game where the “Spirit of the Game” is just as important as the score? Ultimate is all about fun & inclusion. We will start with the basics of throwing and catching and play numerous games to develop fundamental athletic and disc skills, teach rules of the game, and always highlight teamwork and sportsmanship over winning-at-all-costs. There will be plenty of running and cheering to build confidence and selfesteem. Get ready to play for your middle school or high school team or just spend a week having fun. If there are enough registrants, the camp will be split into separate sections for boys and girls with some combined activities. Beginners are welcome. Through the week, we will create a community of youth ultimate players from different schools to meet, socialize, improve their ultimate skills together, and become friends. Camp participants receive a reversible tank-top if registered by 6/1! Combine this camp with the Disc Golf Camp for a full day of throwing discs or at Leddy Park.

HAT TRICK HOCKEY CAMP

Ages 6-9, 9-14 Resident $325 / Non-Resident $355 Miller Art Room or Community Room Ages 6-9: Create LEGO vehicles, structures and machines that will help defeat the arch enemy villains. Using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) principles students will engineer ways to protect themselves by constructing superhero cars, magnet levitation trains, magnetic cranes, and more! Students will use gears and motors to learn about mechanical devices such as levers, magnets, wheel and axles. Help save the day from the arch enemy villain. In the afternoons, students will build their own mini movie set and create an animated movie using LEGO mini figures and other objects. The students will also learn how to edit their movies and add titles/credits using Professional Stop Animation Software. Ages 9-14: build Super Hero bots that can defeat the arch villain. In this class students will learn how gears can create awesome speed and power. We will create bots that will engage in tug of wars, battle villain bots and pull fifty pounds! Children will apply STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) principles and build several versions of EV3 robots and battle villain bots. The students will learn to examine situations and calculate various solutions to discover ways to solve these missions. They will learn C-based programming and use problem-solving skills to help the robots solve the different challenges. Students will use mine craft to build super hero lairs that are filled with traps and defenses to protect from the arch evil villains. They will learn how to use Command Blocks/Redstone to create traps and other defenses. In the afternoon, students will build their own mini movie set and create an animated movie using LEGO mini figures and other objects. The students will also learn how to edit their movies and add music, narration and titles using Professional Stop Animation Software. Code

The Academy offers an opportunity to learn and enjoy many aspects of the game of soccer in a competitive environment from a current professional player. Fundamentals as well as sophisticated techniques of soccer will be taught on a personalized individual level along with various forms of group instruction provided by Camp Director Bo Vuckovic and several other Vermont Voltage professional soccer players. Emphasis is placed on the development, improvement and refinement of basic playing skills. Attention will be given to the instruction of good ball control habits and movement techniques in challenging drills and simulated match situations. Conditioning methods and training ethics are also stressed to prevent injuries and improve the young athlete’s coordination and flexibility. Bo understands the needs of youth in soccer and stresses the development of a positive self-image, mental stimulation and a sense of respect and sportsmanship among players. June 25 – August 17 Monday-Friday Riverside: Lunch 11:00A – 2:00P South Meadow: Lunch 11:00A – 2:00P Franklin Square: Lunch 11:00A – 2:00P & Snack 5:00P – 7:00P Roosevelt Park: Dinner 3:45P – 6:00P This is a drop-in style recreation program that takes place at multiple sites across the city. There are no fees or enrollment required and all staff-led activities are free. The Burlington Summer Meals Program provides free lunch and snack for kids daily. Additionally, kids take weekly field trips. We believe a comprehensive approach to creating food and recreation opportunities for the kids in our city is imperative to creating a happy and healthy community. In response, we not only offer the same meals that children receive at school, but we are also offering nutrition education, fitness activities and opportunities to garden. The program includes field trips, nutrition activities and gardening at Starr Farm Park.

PAYMENT IS DUE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION RESIDENT and NON-RESIDENT FEES: Resident rates for programs apply to

those residing within the Burlington City limits at the time registration is submitted. There is a surcharge on user fees for non-Burlington residents as follows: • $10 per participant for programs costing $100 or less • $20 for programs costing up to $200 • $30 for programs costing over $200

AFTER YOU HAVE REGISTERED: You can assume you are in the class once you submit your registration form. If the class is full, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list. CANCELLATIONS: Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront may cancel classes

due to low enrollment, so don’t wait until the last minute and encourage friends to sign up as well! Programs can also be cancelled due to weather or instructor cancellations. If a program is cancelled by Parks, Recreation & Waterfront, a full refund will be issued and no fee will be charged.

REFUND POLICY: Unless otherwise stated, refunds will be available only until two

weeks prior to the first day of a program or activity. A $25 administrative fee will be charged for processing the refund. You must register prior to the beginning of a program, NO DROP-INS unless specifically stated.
