AFTER YOU HAVE REGISTERED: You can assume you are in the class once you submit your registration form. If the class is full, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list.

REFUND POLICY: Unless otherwise stated, refunds will be available only until

two weeks prior to the first day of a program or activity. A $25 administrative fee will be charged for processing the refund. Penny For Parks Approved by voters in 2008, Penny for Parks is BPRW’s primary capital resource for park improvements and is supported by a dedicated tax. PFP funds are reserved exclusively for parks capital improvement needs. Eligible projects include the repair, renovation, replacement, or expansion of existing park facilities as well as the construction of new facilities in existing parks. Derived from the Grand List, the average annual PFP allocation is ~$350,000. Targeted improvements include playgrounds, courts, athletic fields, park facilities, standard equipment replacement, emergent/urgent projects, and staffing support. BPRW welcomes your park improvement suggestions! So, if you have any ideas, please let us know. Complete the online form or request a copy via mail. Park improvement suggestions are accepted yearround, with an interim deadline of December 31st for consideration in the upcoming fiscal year. BPRW staff then reviews, rates and prioritizes the parks project list, including all public project request, each spring. Highlights of recently completed projects include: Oakledge Park restroom renovation, Starr Farm Park playground replacement and expansion, court & field improvements, and improvements at Roosevelt Park.

Bike Path Rehabilitation The 8-mile Burlington Bike Path connects our parks and waterfront including North Beach, Leddy Park, the Urban Reserve, Waterfront Park, Perkins Pier, and Oakledge Park. The path is our largest multi-use recreational facility supporting cyclists, runners, walkers and beyond. Phase 1a construction, from Perkins Pier through Waterfront Park, was completed in the Summer of 2015. Improvements included the realignment of the path through Waterfront Park, the formalization of a former eroding maintenance road with drivable grass pavers, the improvement of the Maple, King and College Street intersections, and the visual designation of the path in busy locations, executed through green paint. Phase 1b construction through the Urban Reserve, began in Spring 2016 and will continue through the Spring of 2017. Improvements will realign the Bike Path proximate to the lake for better user experience, remove the majority of the old industrial concrete and asphalt remnants and former path alignment, replace previously impervious surfaces with vegetation and improve storm water management, bring the path up to current standards, refresh the dog park, and introduce pause places and outdoor fitness equipment at specific locations. Updates can be found on our website:

PARKS FOUNDATION OF BURLINGTON Philanthropy, Stewardship & Partnership: for the Love of Our Parks.

The Foundation is a separate entity, independent from the City of Burlington and the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department, formed as a tax-exempt non-profit charity governed by its board of directors. Its purpose is to seek opportunities to enhance parks assets and programs through specific initiatives. It is not designed to fill budgetary shortfalls in the Department’s operating expenses that would normally be the responsibility of the City. The Foundation seeks stewardship and philanthropic opportunities for self-sustaining support, including in-kind contributions that will not impose a burden on the City of Burlington’s Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department’s annual operating budget. The Foundation applies for grants for which government agencies are not eligible. It solicits and accepts planned gifts that provide support for future improvements to our city’s recreational resources. As an entity separate from the City, the Foundation invests and manages endowment funds.

To learn more and to make a tax-deductible donaton, please visit: www.parksfoundationburlington.org e-mail info@parksfoundationburlington.org or call Board Chair John Bossange at 802.578.7468. 4

At BPRW, we understand that seniors are the largest growing population in the Burlington area. We will not only continue to support senior activities, but we will strive to offer trending programs that enhance the lives of all involved participants.
