Enriching the quality of life through recreation, education & preservation. January - April 2022

Dear Bourbonnais Township Park District Residents, The Bourbonnais Township Park District is excited to deliver this brochure to your homes. This brochure is packed with great programs and activities for you and your family to enjoy your park district. This letter is tough for me to write because it will be my last as the Executive Director of the Bourbonnais Township Park District. In the fall, the board of commissioners voted not to renew my contract. Neal Donald stated, “If you want the best the world has to offer, offer the world your best.” This has been my motto for the past 15 years as your Executive Director. Under my leadership, the staff and I have worked extremely hard to offer you an exciting opportunity to enjoy your park district. The district has gone through so many transformations that I cannot list them all. But here are a few that stick out. First, the renovation of the Exploration Station to allow for new exhibits, which included amazing airways, up, up, and away, shop a lot market to name a few. In addition, the revamping of Sleepy Hollow. Second, we added additional features at Willowhaven Park & Nature Center through a grant that included a dog park, amphitheater, pavilion, and paved walking trails. Since the renovation, we have seen a surge of visitors enjoying the park. Third, I would be remiss not to talk about the new destination playground at Perry Farm Park. It is great to see the park being utilized each day. The smiles on the children’s faces and the compliments that the district receives on the playground are heartwarming. Fourth, the annual Scarecrow Hollow Contest and Festival. Perry Farm. This event draws the community to the park as it comes to life in the fall with this outstanding family event. Finally, the addition of Diamond Point Park has allowed the district to expand and preserve park land in the northeast portion of the district. During the summer, the park comes to life with our splash pad, sand volleyball, and playground. In addition, it hosts many traveling baseball games during the weekend and adult softball leagues. Financially, I leave the district in better shape. This is an area that I am very proud of for my accomplishment. Through my tenure, the district offered many activities and events and continued to improve the agency’s financial health. BTPD has modernized facilities, added additional park ground, updated technology, and ensured that your tax dollars were spent wisely under my leadership. In addition, you had a safe and clean park and facilities to enjoy on your visit. I would like to personally thank my staff, who worked tirelessly to provide programming and special events for the community. It has been my honor and privilege to have each of them on my team. I have enjoyed every minute with them as we “Enrich the Quality of Life” for our community. Thank you to the community! It was a privilege to lead an extraordinary organization for the past 15 years. It has also been an honor to serve the Bourbonnais Township as a public servant. I have always had the best interest of our patrons and our employees at heart. On April 30, 2022, I will end my tenure as your Executive Director. Still, memories of my accomplishments will continue to make me proud of my achievements on behalf of the patrons and employees of the district. I encourage each of you to continue to support and enjoy parks and nature. Thank you and God Bless. Sincerely, Hollice Clark III 3
