Dear Bourbonnais Township Park District Residents, The Bourbonnais Township Park District is continuing their mission of “Enriching the Quality of Life” as renovations continue around the district. This summer we have upgraded the Perry Farmhouse ramp and porch. In addition, work is being planned on our historical barns and new roofs will be completed on some of the facilities. Laurie Anderson quoted “Technology is the campfire which tell our stories.” In today’s society this quote is as true as you see all of us on our smartphone checking Facebook, Instagram, and the latest TikTok. During the pandemic we noticed that people started to enjoy nature and our parks and the district is excited to tell our story and showcase the wonderful parks and programs that we offer to the residents. It is always exciting to watch the farm come to life as the district celebrates the 8th Annual Scarecrow Festival. Registration for this event starts on September 7th at 9:00 am and the Festival is scheduled for September 18th. The creativity our community shows in decorating the scarecrows is outstanding. This fall the district will also hold Harvest in the Hollow on October 22nd and 23rd. The Bourbonnais Township Park District is excited to announce a new collaboration with Kankakee Valley Theatre Association in which they will host the 30th year of A Night in Sleepy Hollow on Perry Farm Park. Proceeds go to benefit the Exploration Station®…a children’s museum dates are set to take place next year, on October 14, 15, 21 & 22, 2022. This partnership will bring a new depiction of the reenactment portion of the annual fundraiser, based on Washington Irving’s “Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. Santa in the Barn was so successful that the district is planning a day of Christmas with many activities for the family. This new event that the district is adding is Christmas on the Farm which is scheduled for December 4th. Please make time to enjoy the changing of seasons at one of our parks or events this Fall. As always don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or comments at hollice@btpd.org. Sincerely, Hollice Clark III
