This month has been phenomenal in member recruitment. I am proud to say we so far have a bit more than 700 sign ups! Let's try to make sure every single one of us pay the yearly dues so we can all stay a part of this amazing organization.

Hey everyone! This month we have our first fundraiser: Trick or Treat for UNICEF campaign!

Collections start now, and you can start asking for donations inside and outside of school. Bring your box along when you go trick or treating! It is mandatory and we only expect you to raise at least $3, though I encourage you to raise how much you can. Also, you can start to pay your $15 dues in the SGO store on Monday. Dues are mandatory, and without paying them you won’t be counted as part of Key Club or get points or credits. More stuff for you all coming soon!!

A WARM AND GENTLE SUNDAY MORNING that beckons one to enjoy life in a slow and steady manner greeted me as I proceeded to ignore all these sentiments and ran as fast as I can to get to the event on time. I probably shouldn’t have overslept. Thankfully, my project captain was a nice person and did not get mad at me for being late. (This was partly due to me being the only other person who signed up for the early first shift.)

FALL RALLY THE FALLY RALLY

was an amazing experience

for me and it was a really great skill strengthening day. I met many like-minded key clubbers from different schools and divisions. I started the day by going to Ayan and Aby’s workshop that taught me many useful skills about public speaking, which will definitely be useful moving forward in my life.

After that, I went to a workshop that talked about how we could pursue a higher position in the Key Club council and the workshop was led by the District Governor, Jaden, who gave out many helpful tips for the future. Then, there was a presentation by some Circle-K members about the Thirst Project and that really opened my eyes to how I can help make an impact on something so large-scale. Lastly, I went to a workshop that elaborated how we, as Key Club youth, can help with fundraising and receive grants. We ended the day with super fun group activities that brought us all closer and we also raised over 100 dollars for the Thirst Project, which was amazing! The Fall Rally was definitely something that I enjoyed and I will definitely be on the lookout for similar events in the future.

FALL RALLY

as a member HELLO EVERYONE,

my name is Alvin. This weekend I attended the fall Valley hosted by the Key Club family. The Fall Rally overall was an extraordinary and exhilarating experience. I had the opportunity to meet many new and uplifting people there and learned many new things in the huge variety of workshops and even a lecture from the Thirst Project, where they spoke about a huge underlying crisis that still exist in your society, the water crisis, first we got educated on it, then we learned about ways we could help alleviate the issue. The workshops at Fall Rally was truly assorted and wide ranging. A couple of the workshops were even held by executives from our own Key Club.

For example, the public speaking workshop I attended first at Fall Rally was ran by President Ayan Rahman and our Treasurer Abby. The workshop was extremely insightful on how to become a better public speaker.

During the workshop we participated in a plethora of activities such as randomly picking out topics from a bag and having to speak about it for either 30 seconds

or one minute. The workshop overall was filled with engaging experience, everyone learned something and took away something from the workshop.

Personally, I learned a lot from it, especially taking AP Capstone at school and knowing that there will be more opportunities in the future to speak in front of the audience, I am happy I got to practice and refined this skilled during the Fall Rally. A second workshop I attended was ran by our Governor Camille Brock, the workshop talked about the higher offices in key club such as running for District Governor and other roles.

She addressed her personal experience and running for higher office and how she formulated her speech to speak at the LTC (which I also encourage you all to attend, since it’s like a Fall Rally, but larger). She also continues to give us some insight about why we should run and what we should talk about and how to formulate our speech if we ever decide to run for higher office. I found that useful because if I ever want to run for higher office in Key Club I knew where to start. Regardless, it also provided general ideas of how higher office positions operate. After a whole day, full of amazing experiences, I am entailed to say that in the future I would definitely attend more Fall Rallies. It is a great way to start a new school year with Key Club. The people you meet there will all be very passionate about a common goal: service. There are also plenty of splendid speakers coming from organizations like the Thirst Project to talk about how we can participate in certain world issues. Inspiring would be the best word to describe how I felt during the Fall Valley. And I would encourage you all to attend in the future. “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

Our simple acts of kindness go a long way, and with this sentiment in mind, we want to to shoot for the stars this year. Our service hour goal this year is 15,000 hours!
