This year’s advent appeal is in support of the Manchester based charity Wood Street Mission. Wood Street Mission have been working with disadvantaged families and Children since 1869 and help in a variety of ways some of which include providing new and good quality second hand day-to-day necessities like clothes, bedding and baby equipment, as well as toys and books which are important for children's well being and development.

Each form group has filled in a “reverse advent calendar" and it will be the responsibility of one member of the form to bring in one item of their choosing during the advent campaign. During advent as a school community we hope to reflect on the message that Christmas brings and live this out in our service of the wider community.

This year’s appeal "Christmas should be about more than survival" focuses on providing families in Manchester and Salford with new gifts that can be given to their children on Christmas day and also providing non perishable food items and festive

Year 12 and 13 have made excellent contributions to the advent appeal. 12RMcG have made a fantastic start and have brought in an incredible amount of food goods and toys. The Sixth Form Ambassador team worked together to decorate the Christmas tree in reception and have been putting all the fantastic presents under it to show a fantastic display. Miss Flanagan

Enjoy a craft filled Christmas! Christmas Cakes! This Advent we are holding the Great British BTHCC Bake-Off! Pupils can enter on their own or in pairs. Cakes can be small or one seasonal show-stopper.

And don’t forget to come along and complete your ceramic tree 5th December Miss East- decorations on Tuesday wood will be showing 6th December in the Art you how to make lovely Room. Christmas decorations using the hot glue guns.

Cakes need to be made at home, and then brought into school to the Food Technology Room, on Thursday 15th December for judging. There will be Christmas themed prizes, certificates and photographs taken, and a feature in the next newsletter. Staff are also very welcome to take part. Mrs Boardman

BTHCC Speech Night BTHCC will be holding it’s second Speech Night on Tuesday 13th December. It would be wonderful to see friends and family there, supporting our fantastic orators in an evening of dazzling debate to rival any Christmas display! Miss Sigsworth


A huge thank you This Advent issue gives us the opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who supported Blessed Thomas Holford College on Race Night recently. We raised a over ÂŁ1200.00!

And in the New Year Watch out for details of the Spring Ball taking place on 24th March 2017 at Hotel Football and; The Quiz Night taking place on 19th May 2017 here at Blessed Thomas Holford College.
