It’s the fourth game this season that UMC has recorded more than 300 yards of total offense in a game. The Golden Eagle defense was led by Brody Davidson (LB, 6-1, 210, Fr., Crookston, Minn.) who tallied 11 tackles (2 solo, 9 assisted) in the contest including a half of a tackle for a loss of one yard.

The defending NCAA II champion Bulldogs will engage in its second straight NSIC road assignment this Saturday when it takes on the University of Mary. UMD is 4-0 lifetime against the Marauders and has outscored them 170-28 in those four outings, the first of which came in 2006. One year ago (Oct. 16) , the Bulldogs rolled to a 49-0 victory over Mary at James S. Malosky Stadium for their only shut out of 2010. UMD’s quest for a fourth consecutive NSIC title got a huge boost last Saturday night in the form of a 24-6 victory at Winona State University. Freshman running back Austin Sikorski ran 21 times for a career-high 104 yards and one touchdown for the Bulldogs, who led 10-0 at the half and 17-0 before the Warriors finally got on the board late in the third quarter. Junior quarterback and 2010 All-NSIC first team pick Chase Vogler threw for 117 yards and one score while going 14-of-18 in win Saturday night and has now completed and NSIC-leading 70.5 percent of his passes this season (91/129). He ranks among his league brethren in pass efficiency with a 149.5 mark. Junior running back Zach Hulce has averaged an eye-popping 11.1 yards per carry this season, racking up 344 yards on just 31 rushes. The Bulldogs are a perfect 20-0 against North Division competition since the NSIC instituted a two-division format in 2008. UMD has outscored the opposition 78-32 in the first half this season. Going back to the 2007 season finale, UMD has amassed a 47-3 record. Andy Pfeiffer (RB, 6-0, 195, R-Fr., Mankato, Minn./West/North Dakota State) extended his streak of 100-yard rushing games to five Saturday afternoon with a 23-carry 142-yard effort against St. Cloud State, which is his second-best effort of the season. Against the Huskies, Pfeiffer had 68 yards in the first quarter, one yard in the second, 50 in the third and 23 in the fourth. Additionally, he had six carries for ten yards or more, including a long rush of 19 yards. Minnesota State redshirt freshman Nathan Hancock led MSU with nine tackles, including six solo in Minnesota State’s loss to St. Cloud State. Hancock also had a sack for a loss of nine yards and forced a fumble. Notes: Minnesota State has had a balanced attack offensively this season as 44.5 percent of its offense in terms of yardage has came on the ground (994) while 55.5 percent of its offense has came through the air (1,241)...Minnesota State has never lost to Upper Iowa...Redshirt freshman Andy Pfeiffer has rushed for 142 yards against St. Cloud State, marking his fifth consecutive game with a 100-yard rushing performance...Minnesota State has won the battle of possession all season and is averaging 33:24 of offense per game.

Senior Kevin Koch completed 13 of 21 passes for 169 yards fore the Dragons, including a 23-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Hendon, and scored on a five-yard run as well in the 45-13 loss to Southwest Minnesota State. . . Senior inside linebacker Jeff Schuette topped the Dragon defensive chart with 16 tackles, including three unassisted stops, while Lomumba Ismail and Tyler Brody recorded 15 tackles each. . . MSU Moorhead began its series with Southwest Minnesota State with 16 consecutive victories, including Saturday’s 45-13 victory at Moorhead, but the Dragons still lead 27-16-0. NSU’s Kristin James (RB, 5-9, 170, Jr., San Bernardino, Calif./San Bernardino HS/San Bernardino Valley Coll.) exploded for 152 yards and a touchdown on the ground on Saturday against a vaunted Augusutana Viking defense in the Wolves’ heart-breaking 24-27 loss to the Vikings. James scored from four yards out in the third quarter to put the Wolves up 21-10. The 152 total yards was the most by a single NSU player in more than two years since Montrel Richardson put up 174 against St. Cloud State in 2009. Hanipale Seuga (LB, 5-11, 220, Jr., Wilmington, Calif./Phinneas Banning HS) came up big on both sides of the ball for the Wolves. Seuga scored the WOlves’ first touchdown of the day on a two-yard dive in the second quarter. He also had four tackles defensively to go along with a 52-yard interception return in the second half. Felipe Alfaia (K, 5-11, 210, Jr., Sao Roque, Sao Paulo, Brazil) booted a career-long field goal from 41 yards out on Saturday in a heart-breaking 24-27 loss to Augustana. Alfaia was also perfect on all three point-after attempts to aid the NSU effort. Junior running back Gannon Moore (6-1, 209, Sioux Falls, S.D.) rushed for a career-high 159 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries during SMSU’s 45-13 victory over MSU Moorhead on Saturday. Moore, along with teammate Warren Matthews, helped SMSU set a school single-game record with 397 yards rushing. Moore, who averaged 7.9 yards per carry, also caught two passes for 28 yards. Moore scored on touchdown runs of 45 and 12 yards and now has 21 in his career, tying for third all-time in school history. Junior defensive end Mark Schollmeyer (6-3, 239, Stoughton, Wis.) recorded eight tackles with two for loss and 1.5 sacks in SMSU’s victory. Schollmeyer helped an SMSU defense limit MSU Moorhead to just 238 yards, including just 99 in the first three quarters. MSUM ran just three plays on the SMSU side of the 50-yard line in the first three quarters. Sophomore kicker/punter Mike Wenk (6-0, 190, So.) booted a career-long 42yard field goal and kicked four extra points in SMSU’s victory. He also had one punt that was downed at the MSUM 3-yard line. Dante Steward (Sr., RB, Milwaukee, Wis.) carried the ball 22 time for 141 yards and two touchdown runs of two and eight yards in the 17th-ranked Huskies 31-13 win over Minnesota State University, Mankato. His longest carry was for 24 yards. He scored the Huskies first touchdown which put them ahead 7-3. His second touchdown gave the Huskies a 17-6 half-time lead and he carried the ball six times in the drive. The performance marked his second 100-yard rushing game of the season and fifth of his career. It also put him over the 1,500 yard career rushing mark. Steward has 1,519 career rushing yards and became the 15th Huskies to reach the 1,500 yard plateau. For the third straight year, St. Cloud State retained the vaunted Traveling Training Kit with a 3113 home win over Minnesota State University, Mankato. The 17th-ranked Huskies went to the ground gaining 303 of 380 total yards in offense on the ground attack. For the second straight week Mark Martin (Sr., LB, Milwaukee, Wis.) led the team in tackles with eight. He notched a quarterback sack and forced a fumble. Joe Everson (Sr., DB, Lakeville, Minn.) collected his second interception of the season and tenth of his career late in the fourth quarter in the end zone, thwarting an MSU scoring attempt. Brandon Geiss (Jr., RB, Shorewood, Ill.) carried the ball nine times for 73 yards and is closing in on the 2,000 yard rushing mark. He has 1,926 career rushing yards and would become the eighth Husky to gain 2,000 yards in a career. Chris Smith (RB, Fr., Brown Deer, Wis.) made his return to the backfield on Saturday after missing 6 quarters due to injury and scored three touchdowns in UIU’s 31-21 victory at Minnesota, Crookston. Smith’s scoring runs came from 2, 11 and 6 yards away. In total he rushed for 64 yards on 19 carries. Steven Sandoval (K, Jr., Northridge, Calif.) remained perfect on the season hitting his eighth field goal of the year (35 yards) and converting four extra points to make his season total seventeen for seventeen. Upper Iowa scored first and then used 24 unanswered points in the second and third quarters to claim a 31-21 victory on the road. The win improved UIU’s record to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the NSIC marking the first time since 2006, UIU’s first in NCAA Division II, that the team has reached three wins in its first six games. Upper Iowa rushed for 99 yards led by Smith’s 64 on 19 carries. Jaeschke completed 16 passes for 270 yards and a score, while throwing one interception. While Hubbard (83 yards) pulled in the big play for a score, redshirt freshman Shay Gutman stood out with five catches for 112 yards including a 45-yard grab. Ethan Douglas recorded 13 tackles including 6 solo, 2.5 for loss, and recovered one fumble. Casey Popenfoose added 8 tackles, while Tony Leggett, Tom Nesvik and Nick Lepperd each made 7 tackles. Anthony Church was a force in the backfield making 3 tackles for a loss of 12 yards.
