NSIC Men’s Basketball NSIC Player of the Year #3 Anthony Moody (G, 6-0, Sr., Appleton, Wis. / Appleton West HS) University of Mary

Anthony Moody is a key reason the University of Mary owns 16 straight wins, finished second in the NSIC and is now ranked 14th in the country. A two-time NSIC Player of the Week and the second leading scorer in the NSIC with 21.9 points per game, Moody ranks fifth in league games in steals (1.55), sixth in assists (4.0) and seventh in defensive rebounding (4.91). The point guard also directs an offense that is committing the fewest turnovers in the nation for the second straight year. In just two seasons, the Lake Region State College transfer broke the 1,000 point barrier and is 13th on the all-time U-Mary scoring list. He has eclipsed the 20 point barrier 14 times this season and hit for 30 or more four times, including a season-high 42 at St. Cloud State. The Appleton, Wis, native was a First Team All-NSIC selection and the conference Newcomer of the Year in 2010 and earned two all-region second team honors.

NSIC Defensive Player of the Year #2 Cameron Hodges (G, 6-5, Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Robbinsdale Armstrong HS / MCTC) Minnesota State University, Mankato

Cameron Hodges started 25 of the 26 regular season games for the Mavericks. Generally matched up with the topopposing guard, Hodges is one five Mavericks with 30 or more steals (20) and is third on the team in rebounds (101), rebound average (4.0), and defensive rebounds (64, 2.6 drpg).

NSIC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR #44 Brett Ervin (F, 6-7, 225, Fr., Eden Prairie, Minn. / Eden Prairie HS) University of Minnesota Duluth

Ervin made quite a splash in his debut season at UMD as he placed third among Bulldogs in scoring with a 10.5 points per game average while connecting on a team-leading 55.8 percent of his shots from the floor. He saw court time in 22 games as a rookie, including 12 in a starting role, and averaged 25.3 minutes per appearance. His best singlegame offensive effort on the year came against league champion Minnesota State on Jan. 22 when he poured in a career-high 27 points -- one of 10 times he finished in double figures on the season.
