As the leaves begin to change color, the HHC 1/34 BSTB FRG is going through some changes of its own. After more than four years of service, Jolene Lindner is stepping down as FRG Leader. Jolene’s husband, 1SG Rick Lindner, was recently transferred to a new unit. Jolene has gone above and beyond in her role as FRG Leader; helping with numerous picnics, fundraisers, welcome home celebrations and holiday parties over the years, she has always put military families first. With her departure, we also say goodbye to Karen Langer, the FRG Treasurer, who is moving on with Jolene. She has also done a remarkable job. We thank them both for their loyal service. Molly Andersen will take over as the new FRG Leader, leaving open the Co-Leader role. If you are interested, please email the FRG at our new email address: jokercofrg@gmail.com. The FRG is also excited to welcome Lance Howard as the new FRG Treasurer. You can learn more about Lance on page 3 of the newsletter. We hope you enjoy the cooler weather and have a wonderful Halloween and Thanksgiving with your families. Your FRG Leadership Team, Molly, Lance and Andrea

HHC Family Picnic

HHC Commander, CPT Beck, recognized Jolene Lindner at the HHC Family Picnic for her more than four years of service as FRG Leader.

Meet the New FRG Treasurer My name is Lance Howard. I work for Luther Automotive Dealership Group in their Paint Less Dent Repair/Interior repair division as a manager. I have been with Luther for more than 13 years. My passion and reason for living is HUNTING and FISHING! My favorite type of hunting is bow hunting. You will be able to tell by my favorite quote that I love to hunt anything. “If it flies it dies, if it is brown it’s down!” I also like to Scuba dive and ride my Harley when time allows. I was raised in the small town of Longville in Northern MN, but moved to North Branch during my teens. My first career was a chef, and I still enjoy cooking; I just didn’t enjoy all the long hours, working holidays and weekends and the pay. My wife, 2LT Howard and I have been married for 14 years. We have a 20-year-old son who just started the Police Academy at Alexander Technical College. I came to the BSTB because my wife at age 38 decided to join the National Guard. Since my wife has always supported me on my big “Hunting” adventures, this is one way I can support her and support the unit at the same time. I am excited to get to know all the families and Soldiers of the 1/34 HHC BSTB.

Note from the Commander Greetings HHC BSTB Family, It's been an action packed couple of months for our Soldiers! We conducted Annual Training in August which was extremely successful by all measures. During September drill we completed our post-Annual Training activities which included the obligatory equipment inspections, inventories and maintenance that follows a successful training event. Another highlight of September drill was the unit picnic spearheaded by our Family Readiness Group. On Sunday afternoon we got together at Moir Park in Bloomington to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. For those that attended, thank you for sharing your Sunday with us. I hope to see many of you again at the Holiday Party in December. Our FRG deserves many thanks for volunteering their time and efforts to make it a great event. As many of you know we are currently undergoing a change in the FRG leadership. Jolene has served this unit admirably as the FRG Leader for more than four years and will be moving on as her husband transitions to the 34th Infantry Division Headquarters. Karen has served as the treasurer during the past year and as a personal friend of Jolene will be moving on as well. To Jolene and Karen, thank you for your volunteer service and tremendous support to HHC BSTB during your tenure. Molly takes over as the leader from her co-leader position and Lance Howard has volunteered to assume the role of treasurer. Molly, thank you for your continued support. Lance, welcome to the team! Drill in November at Camp Ripley will focus on completing some annual requirements that allow us to concentrate on other priorities for the remainder of the training year. These tasks include combat lifesaver certification, generator training and licensing and the annual physical fitness test. Also during our next drill we will conduct a Change of Responsibility ceremony to bid farewell to 1SG Rick Lindner and welcome 1SG Timothy Flahave to the unit. As I mentioned earlier, 1SG Lindner is transitioning to the 34th Infantry Division Headquarters. 1SG Flahave comes to us with significant experience as a First Sergeant in Charlie Company, 1-194 Armor. Please join me in recognizing these outstanding senior noncommissioned officers in their new assignments. - CPT Beck
