The cost will be $1 for the Jeans day and Crazy Hair day. The bake sale will have maximum prices of $4. The Money will go to PAE. If you want to know more about them, here is their webpage: www.pae.ec As you know it is the last month of the school year. The Primary Student Council meetings are over, but we are still working on some things. The Jeans Day/Bake Sale Crazy Hair day will be the last activity of the Primary Student Council this year! This is what we have accomplished this year: Helping PAE, Daniels Children’s Fund and the Gabugan association with jeans days and bake sales, pyjama days and crazy hair days. We also helped to improve the quiet area of the school, by providing games, activities and monitors. We promoted sun safety by doing a SunSmart presentation during an assembly and lastly, we are in the process of organising an anti-bullying poster contest. On behalf of all the Primary Student council we would like to thank everyone for the support that you have given us throughout the year. Alex Ruf & Agatha Muñoz Primary Student Council Mr. Steven Tober Supervising Teacher

Artist Luiggi Raffo Made an Artistic Visit to Year 2 El Artista Luiggi Raffo Visitó a Año 2 Last Friday June 14th we had the pleasure of receiving a visit from urban/graphic design artist Luiggi Raffo who came all the way over from Guayaquil to talk to our students about being an artist, painting, and being a muralist. Whilst here he also offered a workshop about drawing and collage elements to our students!

The artist arrived early at school and had a chance to observe our students in class and look at some of their work. At 10:30 in the morning we introduced him to both Year 2A and Year 2B classes who were very excited to see him. He then had a chance to show some of his artwork to our students who had amazing questions ready for him. Luiggi showed his work and talked about his life as an artist. Here are some of the artist´s answers:

Luiggi grew up in Guayaquil loving colour in general and he remembers that the only art tools that he had growing up were markers and walls and ever since then he has loved drawing on walls with markers, he later became the artist he is now and works for several projects, with the government, ministries and other amazing artists. He loves painting murals on walls and he does them only when he is hired to do so or given permission to paint on walls. He is an urban artist but he does not destroy private property as he always gets permission to put his artwork on walls all around our country. Luiggi also told our students that he loves nature and that this is his main theme or subject across most of his artwork, he says that what matters most to him is the future of our earth and the importance of taking care of it.

The students were very excited to hear Luiggi talk about his experiences as an artist. Their most favourite part was about how the artist showed them his pieces on recycled materials, changing their use completely and making something new and beautiful out of something ugly and old. He showed them how he turned an old broken skateboard into a beautiful mask and several empty paint cans into beautiful pencil holders He also showed them his special artwork collection that he liked to call non-traditional art which was artwork made on objects and different surfaces such as his artwork made on headphones, guitars, shoes and other media.

After having looked at and heard about Luiggi´s amazing artwork and inspirations, the artist introduced the students to two workshops on collage and drawing in his style: with markers. For the rest of the day Luiggi helped the children come up with beautiful collage pieces, gave them his input on their ideas and had a blast!

After the wonderful talk and workshop the artist Luiggi Raffo left us a wonderful piece of art on our classroom whiteboard as a thank you for working with him and for having participated in his workshops! Below are some of Luiggi’s amazing works of art!

A Story Written by Valentina Vargas, 3A Un Cuento Escrito por Valentina Vargas, 3A On Monday, the Nurgla went to Mexico. He wanted to find some fresh vegetables to eat. He only found tomatoes, meat lettuce and tortillas. He makes lots of experiments with the ingredients and makes some tacos. On Tuesday he got a job. It was for cooking and selling Chinese food. He only knew how to do vegetarian sushi and salad. He sold lots and lots of sushi. He got 100000 dollars! He was rich but then he spent all the money just for a motor bike that he broke easily. On Wednesday, he went fishing. He didn´t fish a fish, because the fish thought that he was very ugly. A shark was swimming near there. The fish told him about Nurgla and the shark said “He will be the hero and that he will save them” but, Nurgla saw the shark and fished it. In the night his dinner was a shark with salad. I really like this. On Thursday, he went to Ecuador. He wanted some corn. He got it and went back home. He tried to cook it, but it burned into popcorn. He was angry to see his delicious corn turned into popcorn. But he tried it with salt and he went to Ecuador all every week, because he liked it. On Friday the Nurgla was sleepy and tired. He made lots of things in the in the week. He put on his pajamas and brushed his teeth. He was ready to go to bed, when he remembered he had to read a book. But when he read the first letter, he fell asleep, and that’s the end of his hard week. Valentina Vargas Year 3A
