A Note From Bryan Loveless: Greetings to all! I hope this magazine finds you in good health and spirits!

I am writing this article as I sit at my desk, watching the beginning of a new day (literally and figuratively), with the brilliant fall colors starting to fade and the ever changing views of fabulous Lake Washington competing for my attention while composing this message!

This has certainly been a remarkable, challenging year, full of stressful events for all of us.

Life has been altered significantly (at least in the short term), but I can’t help but feel that the American “can do” nature is still alive and well. Despite the worst health pandemic of our lives (at least for those of us less than 100 years old!), the related economic uncertainty/ issues for many of us, and a truly fractured political climate – with strong, passionate views on both sides of the aisle – I see evidence of the indomitable spirit of this country in so many things. Hopefully, truly better days are ahead for all!

With regard to the local high-end real estate market, the activity level this year has been absolutely astounding – especially when taking into account the challenges we are experiencing that are referred to above. The local real estate market in Kirkland, Kenmore, and Lake Forest Park in the $1M+ price range has been stronger than ever with sales volume in the area topping $160M in October – the highest of all-time! With less than one month worth of active listing inventory and both pending and sold listings reaching all-time highs as well, it is no wonder we are currently experiencing one of the best appreciating markets in the entire country. Another contributing factor to these amazing numbers are record low interest rates, making this a wonderful time to buy or sell. Lake Washington waterfront is no exception as average closed sale prices hit an all-time high in July this year. Truly remarkable results!

Lastly, as the holidays are approaching, I hope everyone can find things to be grateful for in our lives. While many among us have struggled this year, and there are many sources of frustration and sadness, the bottom line is we live in the greatest country in the history of the planet, and we all “won the lottery” by just being able to reside here. I believe in this country and it’s people, and I feel certain better days are ahead. The holidays are a wonderful time for reflection, and telling those you love how much they mean to you. When my son Nick told me Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday, I asked him why and he said: “All of the good food and family with none of the pressure of gifts!” – I decided then and there that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday as well!

CRANBERRY OLD FASHIONED INGREDIENTS 3 ounces quality bourbon whiskey 1 ounce cranberry simple syrup 3 shakes Angostura bitters garnish with orange peel and rosemary

WHITE CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT MARTINI 1 cup madeira 10 whole cloves 4 cinnamon sticks 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

INGREDIENTS 1.5 ounces white chocolate liqueur 1.5 ounces vanilla vodka 1 ounce creme de cacao 1 ounce half and half .5 ounce peppermint schnapps white chocolate syrup and crushed peppermint to garnish

HOT CHOCOLATE SHOTS INGREDIENTS 2 tbsp cocoa powder, sifted 2 tbsp brown sugar 1 /4 cup whole milk 1/3 cup chopped semi-sweet chocolate 1 cup whole milk 1 oz grand marnier, or any orange liqueur
