FR/ Figure emblématique du groupe de drone metal américain Sunn O))), le guitariste Stephen O’Malley est passé maître dans l’art d’expédier les sons dans une autre dimension. Ce savoir-faire hors du commun se confirme aujourd’hui à travers « Les Sphères (ses effondrer) », une compo de deux heures exécutée aux côtés de la multi-instrumentiste Kali Malone. Le temps d’un concert, le duo conjugue ses talents au croisement de spacieuses nappes synthétiques et de puissants bourdonnements électriques. Une expérience supersonique. (NAL)

A short sharp shock EN/ It would be fair to describe Greetings
from Earth as a whirlwind comeback, and one since that has rarely been seen in the Campine region since a tornado destroyed the village centre of Oostmalle in 1967. It is not that the merciless garage rock of CRACKUPS answers life’s great questions. After 85 seconds of primal screams in ‘Wet Sheets’, we do actually find out why the sheets are wet and the laconically shouted message that we will all eventually die is contradicted in the psychedelic punk of ‘White Fruit’ with the legendary rhyme: “My liquid tastes like cherry cola / pure white fruit without granola.” Bawler-cum-guitar scourge Thomas Valkiers said in a recent interview that his girlfriend “has quite white hair”. Which is just to say that whoever missed the no-nonsense excitement of The Crackups is not buying a lemon with CRACKUPS – now without the article and in capitals. It
turns out that after the final of the Rock Rally, the subsequent debut Animals On Acid, and the sudden break-up ten years ago, the band members always stayed friends. Most of the new tracks grew out of demos that the frontman had put aside for a solo project, but which found a new home during a reunion rehearsal with Meukens, guitarist Toon Van Looy, and bassist Siebe Le Duc.
