Listen Up Brunswick County What is the mission of Listen Up Brunswick County? Good Music - Good Deeds. To bring a variety of live music in the singer-songwriter tradition to Brunswick County and Southeastern North Carolina while also addressing the needs of our community through charitable giving.

When were you established?

In 2013 a small, but enthusiastic group of music lovers gathered to discuss their common interests and a shared concern. Although pleased with their quality of life in southeast North Carolina, they all agreed that something was missing - a lack of live professional musician performances in Brunswick County, especially in the off-season. "Let's do something about this", said Jeannie Dufour to the rest of the group sitting around her dining room table. As the discussion continued, it became apparent that this could be an opportunity to not only satisfy the craving for live music but also to say thank you by giving back to local charitable organizations. By the end of that meeting, the group had a plan. Dufour recalls saying, "If we can build our volunteer staff, attract high quality musicians, put them in an audience-friendly venue, get the word out to music fans, and price the tickets reasonably, we can pay the musicians, cover expenses, and give the rest back to the community by donating to worthwhile organizations." That meeting launched Listen Up Brunswick County, a group of like-minded, live-music loving volunteers with a simply stated, yet powerful mission: GOOD MUSIC - GOOD DEEDS!

What is one thing you want the readers to know about your organization? We are all volunteers. Our leadership and board of directors are unpaid. Our bottom line is a passion for singer-songwriters and live Americana music.

What's next for Listen Up Brunswick County? We are happy to share the dates and performers for Season Five Here's what to look forward to in 2018: January 20 - Bob Lind February 2 - Lucy Kaplansky March 11 - The Kennedys April 8 - The End of America October 20 - Vance Gilbert November 10 - Jeanne Jolly That line-up validates the GOOD MUSIC half of our mission. We will honor the second half, GOOD DEEDS, by donating to the music arts programs in the Brunswick County public school system. Ambassadors are the liaisons between the Chamber and Brunswick County. Ambassadors welcome new businesses in the area, provide information on becoming a chamber member and check in with current members on an ongoing basis. These volunteers are an extension of the Chamber staff, supporting new and renewing members through active participation in the community. They are respected business professionals who champion the Chamber each and every day. Each month, we recognize an Ambassador who has shown unwavering support for our business community and the Chamber.
