STATE of the parks At Brownsburg Parks, your quality of life is our business. A Master Plan for the next five years is wrapping up this summer. This plan will take the input gained from the focus groups and the statistically valid survey sent out last fall and use it to assist us in making decisions that better address the public need for certain recreational opportunities as well as increasing the satisfaction level of the services provided. You may be able to already see some of these improvements in the parks that are underway stemming from the need to address the increased demand. We encourage you to follow along on www.brownsburgparks.com on the progress of the many projects and improvements that will be taking place over the next few years. Our projects page within the website will update you periodically on the development of each project including information such as target completion dates, conceptual drawings, and other information that will keep you in the loop moving forward. Some of the exciting new projects going on this summer include a new Pavilion in Arbuckle Acres near the playground on the upper level. This new facility will be constructed with powder coated steel to better handle severe weather conditions throughout the year, provide increased electrical capabilities for larger company or family outings and compliment the other new shelters that have popped up over the last few years throughout the park. Brownsburg Parks is also designing a new splash pad anticipated to be open by the summer of 2014. The splash pad will take toddlers all the way up to teens through interactive spray and play features during the long, hot summer. Follow this project’s progress along with the many others on our website or by contacting us with questions at parks@brownsburgparks.com! You may also notice our new Recreation Outreach Trailer around town this summer. We will be out and about at various locations throughout Brownsburg giving residents the opportunity to ask questions about their parks as well as promoting play with various activities for families. Find out more information on how you can have us at your next event on page 14. Brownsburg Parks is excited about the new opportunity we have to expand the most active youth services in Hendricks County! Starting August 1, B.A.S.E. (Before and After School Enrichment) will offer Brownsburg School Corporation kindergarteners through 5th graders a new type of latchkey service centered around “playing first”, allowing students to release the energy from a long school day to in turn allow them to concentrate better with the homework assistance that will also be offered each and every week day after school. We encourage you to learn more about this program for your child on pages 7-10! Ultimately, we just hope that you will be able to enjoy your summer recreation right here in town. We’re always looking to hear about your experience, let us know on Facebook by sending us a picture of you and your family in the park or just stop one of our many summer staff that will be out and about all summer long. Thank you for choosing Brownsburg Parks!
