The Brown Family Newsletter When do we leave? Good question! You are not the only one asking or wondering when our family will be moving to Mexico full-time to serve with the Children’s Home. We thought an explanation of our goals and timeline would be insightful. Above all, we would like to ask that everyone pray that God will continue to lead our family in a clear manner so that it is easy for us to discern His will as we continue through this process. Prayer support is of the utmost importance to us. God willing, the short answer to your question is that we will be in Mexico by June 2008. The key to meeting our goal is securing enough monthly financial support to ensure that our family can live comfortably and that the Children’s Home remains financially solvent in the future. Over the past 6 months we have secured commitments of $580 per month. Our family budget is $2644 per month. Therefore, we have secured 22% of our family budget goal. Our total budget also includes $3356 to help with the monthly operating costs of the home. Our total budget goal (family + ministry) is $6000 per month. Therefore, we have secured 9½% of our total budget goal. As you can see, we are well on our way to achieving our family budget goal, however, we are still a ways from our overall budget goal. Global Outreach will not let us leave until we meet our budget of $6000 for 2 to 3 consecutive months. During these 6 months, many people and churches have been very generous in supporting us with one-time gifts. We are so thankful and grateful for these gifts. They have helped us with startup cost (purchasing a used projector, etc.) and have also helped us fund short-terms trips. These trips have included a trip to Mexico last November and the two recent trips to the coast to share with churches. Unfortunately the one-time gifts do not count towards our budgeted goals that we must reach in order to leave for Mexico permanently. Please join with us in praying that God will speak to families and churches about specifically supporting us financially on a long-term, monthly basis. It is simply a matter of claiming what God has already promised. God says in Jeremiah 33:3a, “Call to me and I will answer you” and in Matthew 7:7a, “Ask and it will be given to you.” Lord, pour out your blessing on our family and provide the financial support we seek in order to serve You in Mexico.

What does the future hold? Becky and I would like to share with you some of the vision that the Lord has given us and the Flemings for the future of the Children’s Home ministry. Foremost, we would like to reach as many children and their families as possible with the Gospel of Christ. This can be accomplished in many ways. Three of the ways the Lord has laid on our hearts are: 1)

Expand the Children’s Home by adding additional housing for more children and staff,

2)

Promote the home throughout the area by all possible means so that more families are aware of the ministry, and

3)

Start a Christian school for the students in the home that would eventually expand to offer an education to other disadvantaged children who qualify based on need.

First, the home would be expanded by adding a second floor to house another set of house parents and more children. This would allow a better separation of the kids based on age and would help with the daily schedule since the younger and older children have vastly different extracurricular activities throughout the week. Also, we would like to build some duplexes that would allow the home to transition the young adults to their own living spaces where they can learn to live independently while still being supervised. The home would continue teaching them to become productive adults. Second, we will seek ways to further promote the awareness of the ministry. This will not only include word-of-mouth, but all other legal means by working with other churches, government agencies, etc. The first step will be to investigate the means available to promote the ministry. Finally, we would like to see a vision of the Flemings be realized by starting a private, Christian school. The public schools in Mexico teach evolution and other destructive ideas. Additionally, the only religious influence in the schools is Catholic. This project would probably start by home-schooling the children at the home. Once this program has been started, we would start exploring the formation of an officially recognized school that could eventually be opened to other children based on need. This ministry would provide a Christian education to all children who are accepted to the school based on an application process. The ultimate goal would be to provide this education at no cost to the families. As with the other ministries, this project would be focused on sharing the Gospel and bringing the children and their families to Christ while meeting a need. The Lord has been so faithful to the Flemings. The Flemings have served Him with the devotion of true servants. Becky and I are excited about what God is doing in our lives by preparing us to go to the mission field to serve along side of them. We are thrilled to be part of the vision that God has provided. We know that He will bless the ministry if we continue to seek His will. To God be the glory both now and in the future! Lord, please continue to give us a vision that glorifies you and brings people to the saving gospel of Jesus Christ, our Savior!

Financial Support Options There are several ways to become partners with our ministry. Most of all, we cannot offer enough encouragement regarding prayer. We covet your prayers. We are living proof that God answers prayers every day! If the Lord has blessed your family financially and you feel led to partner with our ministry, there are a couple of ways to send financial contributions. First, you may send your gifts monthly using the giving envelopes like the one included with this newsletter. After your first gift, additional envelopes will be mailed to you. If you prefer a more automated approach, Global Outreach can directly debit your account each month. The enrollment form for this service is located at http://www.globaloutreach.org/DirectPaymentAuthorization.doc and the service is free. All gifts are tax deductible. Global Outreach sends out quarterly and annual giving statements for your records. Please feel free to contact us or Global Outreach if you have any questions. God will truly bless your family for building His kingdom!
