issue. We want to make sure our Membership is very comfortable with this Deed Restriction. The gist is to limit ownership to five (5) lots/homes. The feedback I have received is that you want ownership and to limit renters. This will accomplish that. It can also discourage corporations and LLC's from buying up property in Brookridge when they do not have a vested interest as we homeowners do. Anyone who now has more than five (5) homes/lots are grandfathered in. We will inform you when we will put this to your vote. We are moving forward with our road resurfacing and remilling. The Board has authorized General Manager, Mr. Geroux, to confer with Public Works Supervisor, Mr. Benoit, to seek bids for a contractor. We will keep you informed on this project. This is the main portion of our reserve account. We now have our Lazer Unit. Captain Shubert has been in contact with the trainer. He will be here within the next few weeks. Therefore, I ask everyone and their guests to please pay attention to your speed and please stop at the stop signs, even if there is no traffic coming either way. The five seconds it takes to stop will save you a violation and fine. I would like to gently remind everyone that we have speed limits to keep our community safe. We have had many drivers not negotiate the turns on Brookridge Boulevard and have caused destruction to our homes and property. This is real and we are dedicated to making our roadways safe for all.

I am happy to confirm that the Annual Meeting will be in March, 2017. I hope this will assist the Snowbirds.

An automatic door opener was installed on the west clubhouse I would like to make a plea again for volunteering. President’s Desk by Gail Metcalf

Hello Brookridge Residents:

We have been sailing through August with enough rain to green up our lawns and golf course. We have been busy this summer with keeping Brookridge looking great. The Board has voted to put the Deed Restriction Proposal for Limitation of Ownership out to the Membership to be voted on, the time will be announced. Please read the Proposal and come to a meeting to review this important

I have heard some grumbling about the Pool Pass rule. Please do not beat up our Pool Monitors. They are following our request to check all pool passes. As I indicated last month, this is part of the Rules and Regulations that you, our Membership, voted for. Part of this reason is that the pool is a privilege. If you have violations, you are not allowed to swim. The only way we can make sure is to check all pool passes. If you have misplaced your pass, please go to the Administration office to acquire a new one. It only takes a few minutes. Please feel free to contact me via my secretary, Dorene, and please stay safe and healthy.

Beautification Committee By Nancy Lowry

Our committee has come out of their igloos and started working on the boulevards. Please watch out for them in the median wearing lime green vests. We thank the Drama Club and the Women’s Club for wellneeded donations. These will be well used for plans at the guardhouse island.

Memorial trees have been agreed to by our committee and Public Works. The Cassia is the selected tree of choice, it blooms from September into December and is hardy once established. Please contact me at 262/676-8934 for ordering and details. Our next meeting for Beautification will be on September 1st at 9:00 AM we would love to have you join us!

Safety Committee By Nancy Lowry

Our security personnel are doing a yeomen’s job in trying to keep traffic flowing at the clubhouse functions. Your cooperation with them is greatly appreciated.

Security Captain’s Report By Greg Schubert

With the election season fast approaching and 2016 being a Presidential election year, I would like to remind everyone about our rules regarding signs on your property.

No political signs what so ever are allowed on your property or in the windows of your home. Any sign on display will result in an immediate Notice of Violation with a possible fine of $25 per day and a 14 day loss of privileges. Privileges include use of the clubhouse and pool as well as the suspension of all barcodes assigned to the property. Also with the rainy season here, please keep your lawns maintained according to the deed restrictions, or the association can have Public Works mow your lawn for a minimum fee of least $100.00 per cut.

Please do your part to keep Brookridge the wonderful community everyone calls home.

2017 ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING AGENDA

These sponsors enabled Brookridge to have a great 4th of July celebration and TV giveaway that Joseph Yetto won. She also wanted to thank the committee group of 12 people that volunteered. We could not have done it without them. It was a fun filled weekend starting off with The Men’s Club Block Party, Bob and Shirley doing music, followed by Shuffleboard, the Golf Parade and lots of prizes. The Shuffleboard courts were wonderful. While the snow birds are gone, try out the amenities that are top notch right now. President Metcalf – Would like to thank Val Stratton for putting on the 4th of July celebration. Not only did we have shuffleboard, but we also had a balloon throwing contest. She also would like to thank Vince and his crew for the amazing job they did at the shuffleboard court. They painted the whole court and addressed the safety issue with the cement. They also have redone all the shuffleboard courts and the benches.

By Philip Rastocny

On September 1, the moon begins its journey across the sky as a “new moon,” that is to say there is no moon visible at any time during the night or day. But what causes this? Well, the moon’s orbit is not in the same “plane” as the earth and sun. Just like the steering wheel in your car tilts up, so does the orbit of the moon tilt up from earth’s orbital plane. The moon is not seen when in between the earth and the sun [we’re looking at its shadow side]; this is called a new moon. Sometimes the earth is between the moon and the sun; this is called a full moon.

On occasion, the moon is directly between the earth and the sun and it blots out the sun. This is called a solar eclipse. Sometimes, the earth is directly between the moon and the sun and the moon is in the earth’s shadow blotting it out. This is called a lunar eclipse.

Labor Day is here again - It became a federal holiday in 1894, after the Pulman Strike, one of violent battles between Labor Unions, employers and police. Unions began for good purposes, but had abuses and excesses. Main causes were for fair pay and safe work conditions. Luke 10:7 says "The labourer is worthy of his hire." The Bible plus common sense could help a lot.

As to Salvation, Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30 - "Come unto me all ye that labor" ("Labor"is active voice verb, meaning your works, actions or religion - ) "and are heavy laden" ("laden" is passive voice, acted upon by outside force - We are born sinners since Adam) "And I will give you rest" (More than physical or of heart and mind) "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls." (This is spiritual rest from Him, by faith, working from within to the soul to give rest, often brings physical rest also.) We cannot work our way to Heaven - He already did all the work - All we need do is be repentant toward God and believe Jesus died for our sin and rose again - call upon Him - Romans 10:13 Are you resting in Him? All are welcome for Songs, Prayer & Bible message Sundays - 9 a.m.- Room D. Info: Ken, at 352-515-6509

We hope everyone in Brookridge has heard about our (as Ed Sullivan would say) “Really Big Shoe” on Sept.12th. in the clubhouse from 7 to 9 PM. Don’t miss a fun filled evening with Sally and Roy, this husband and wife team will be putting on a 50’s and 60’s Revue featuring Sally impersonating female stars of that period. Sally not only impersonates their voice but also their customs. Tickets are $5.00 each, bring your own snacks and beverages. Round tables seating 10 will be set around the dance floor for your enjoyment. So come alone, come with your spouse, or reserve a table or more and bring all your friends. Start the entertainment season with us. Nonresidents are welcome.

A little about Brookridge Men’s Association. We are a group of men who put on six events every year but we don’t go out and get drunk with it; we donate it to local and national charities and of course our community. This year so far we purchased new plaques for $870 to replace the outdoor Veterans board, when you’re in the Clubhouse please stop in the hall by the gym and see the new Brookridge Wall of Honor. A new vacuum $74 for the clubhouse, $100 toward railing around fountain at clubhouse $200 to Beautification, $50 to Wounded Warriors and $50 to help the golf club sponsor a golf tournament.
