“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.” -J.M. Barrie elcome to Star Chefs: Neverland! We are tremendously grateful W to the stellar chefs, winemakers and distillers who make tonight’s event the best dinner party in the region. Deep thanks to local merchants, hoteliers, artists and others who generously donated incredible items for this evening’s auctions! You join them as our partners in achieving the Broadway Center’s vision “to energize and help lead a renaissance that brings shared joy and prosperity to our community.” In the seven years since Star Chefs began, we have never once doubted that the arts help our community. Together, we have raised vital funds for the Broadway Center’s Arts Education Programs that serve more than 51,000 students, teachers and parents annually, making it the largest, most dynamic, and impactful program of its kind in the state. Many characters in Neverland, especially Peter Pan, are infused with fearlessness and eternal youth. Our students may not stay young forever, but for many students their participation with the Broadway Center is where they learn a strong sense of self-esteem, courage, wonder, and self-expression. They will take this confidence with them the rest of their lives, and we know they will not only fly, but soar! With your help, during the past seven years of Star Chefs on Broadway, we’ve raised more than $1.5 million to support these programs. This year, we ask you to help us top $1.85 million! Please give generously and make a difference in the lives of youth and students in our community. My heartfelt thanks to you, our best friends, Board leaders, sponsors, and fellow revelers.

Access for All to the Arts
The Broadway Center's Education Program is vital to our mission, specifically to “Ensure our children’s development through education and the arts” and to “Empower our citizens through participation.” Both young and young at heart, the Broadway Center’s Education Programs serve 51,000 learners annually with some of the most diverse and deeply impactful education programs in Washington State. Our goals are to: • Support learners of all ages, from Pre-K to community elders; • Sustain an environment in which we share collaborative, artistic experiences that serve as a springboard for future opportunities within our schools, families and community; • Enable life-long learners to encounter and inhabit the stage by gathering at the theatre and convening at community centers and schools; and • Learn together through lectures, workshops and classes taught by expert leaders from our community. It’s not just the numbers we serve, though they are impressive—it’s HOW we are changing lives for the better, truly engaging community members through performing arts and deepening our commitment to serve our community. • Original Tours: The Broadway Center creates an original production annually honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We’ve reached 85,000 students in six years. • Student matinees: 10,000 students attend performances tied directly to state testing requirements. • Teacher Institute at Broadway Center: Educators can earn clock hours, learn new arts lessons to integrate into the classroom, and expand learning with colleagues in this dynamic program. • The LENS Project: Groundbreaking youth violence prevention program, in which at-risk students gain self-esteem, connect with peers and their schools, and learn empathy, negotiation and sense of self. • Broadway Conservatory: Workshops and classes offered at Broadway Center and through after school programs. Each spring and summer, students participate in a fully realized musical production culminating in a public performance such as Damn Yankees. These life-changing Education Programs are subsidized by donations, and your contributions tonight help us keep our promise to the community that no child or child in need will be turned away because of the inability to pay.
