In 1981, McIntyre and Dennis Pilichis (The UFO Information Network ; UFOIN) wrote a booklet entitled: “Alien Body Photos: An Updated Report”. Members of UFOIN were at odds whether they were completely convinced by McIntyre’s unnamed source’s testimony or the photographic evidence provided by said source. Although many were persuaded of their authenticity, most members were not so easily impressed.
Upon closer inspection of the second photo, Schaffner and the team took notice of two inconsistencies.
Member, Ron Schaffner, was at the forefront of this skepticism. He states that when he and his fellow disbelievers questioned McIntyre about certain aspects of the story, McIntyre stalled and would not forward them any documentation that he claimed to have. It was at this point that Schaffner and the others initiated their own investigation of the 1948 UFO crash.
Falsified Photo Analysis The team’s first procedure was to verify that Kodak actually did the photo analysis that Mr. McIntrye claimed. A letter was sent to Eastman Kodak along with a copy of the prints. They asked for documentation regarding the quality of the print, time frames and the person’s name and title who supposedly did the analysis. The people at Kodak stated they were not aware of any photo work done on the pictures enclosed. Furthermore, their representative said that Kodak would not preform any type of testing that the team desired for authenticity.
A UFO of Earthly Origin? Schaffner and his colleagues took a critical look at the photo stated to be the crash-landed “Laredo Tomato Man” and concluded this wreckage and its ill-fated pilot were not so out of this world. Schaffner states the frames of a pair of eyeglasses near the right shoulder are indicative of the being’s human nature. He continues to scru-
tinize the photo, stating that under closer examination, it becomes clear that the wreckage is of Earthly origins, taking note of the vehicle’s various structural and mechanical components such as, “...conductor cables, a six-sided hex nut, tubular piping, angle iron, and many welded areas all look man-made, and the welds conform to standard procedures of the time.” All elements undeniably distinct to Earthling technology of the 1940s.
“The legs of the person you are seeing is definitely military since his fatigues are bloused above his field boots. The others seem to be wearing raincoats. If one of these persons is an Officer, he is wearing low quarters and a class “A” uniform (Greens). According to the Air Force, the class “A” uniform with the black stripe down the side of the pants did not come into use until 1957. This uniform is only worn during the winter months.” Hardly appropriate attire for July of 1948.
Testimonial Discontinuities The team decided to probe a little deeper into the story. After all, if the pictures were a deception, then the scenario surrounding them would also have suspicions. The unnamed source said that the “UFO” was tracked by the DEW radar system. The Distant Early Warning (DEW) is a series of radar installations to provide a warning of enemy attack by air. The project began its planning stages in 1946. Construction did not begin until 1955 and it finally became operational in 1957. If the alleged source was in the military as described, the he would have known that this was erroneous. We are told that two F-94 fighter pilots were scrambled out of Dias Air Base to intercept the object. This is quite an achievement considering that the F-94 didn’t fly until 1949 as prototypes. The Air Force didn’t fly them until 1950.
“ I W ant
B elieve ”
Schaffner sums it up best when he said, “You have been presented with an extraordinary claim. In order to quantify such statements, there needs to be indisputable proof that such an event took place. This applies to both the true believer and debunker. It is far better to be cautious with such claims before any endorsement. The above case comes down to just two possibilities. Either the claim is valid as an extraordinary event, or it is a hoax. The simpler explanation clearly favors this to be a hoax.” http://web.archive.org/web/19991115054253/home.fuse.net/arcsite/tomato. htm https://www.csicop.org/si/show/alien_mug_shots_the_ten_best_or_worst_ photos_of_aliens http://web.archive.org/web/19991115054253/home.fuse.net/arcsite/tomato. htm

RABIES SEASON IS HERE
NOWS THE TIME TO ACT! VACCINATE YOUR PETS.
CONTACT AN EXPERT YOU HAVE QUESTIONS DR. LEYENDECKER HAS THE ANSWERS.
IN 2016 751 of 10,734 animals tested for rabies returned positive in the state of Texas. 8 of these positives cases occurred in Webb County.

accinations are an important component of your pet’s health care program and a vital aspect of helping him to live a long, happy life. Diseases that were once widespread and deadly can now be prevented thanks to the efficacy of vaccinations. But, in addition to the priceless benefit of safeguarding your pet’s health, your pet’s vaccines also produce a valuable side benefit: protection for you and your family. Some serious diseases—such as rabies and leptospirosis— are transmittable from pets to people, and vaccinating your pet is of paramount importance to the safety of your family. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

May Is National Drowning
PREVENTION F acts :
»» Drowning is the second-leading cause of death to children ages 1-4 in the United States. »» Drowning is the number one cause of death to children ages 1-4 in most southern states. »» In many cases, drowning is a silent event, without splashing or a call for help. »» In most areas of the country, the majority of child drownings occur in backyard pools & spas. »» Drowning is a complex public health issue, requiring a multifaceted approach using multiple prevention strategies. »» Scientific research, engineering advancements, legislation, community outreach, and education are all necessary strategies, on the national level, to prevent drownings.
LAYERS OF PROTECTION
Multiple strategies are needed to prevent drownings. Using “layers of protection” is the best way to enjoy the water safety. Each layer is used to compliment the others, so that no single strategy or approach is used.
S upervision : »» ALWAYS know where children are. Never leave a child unattended in or near water in a pool, tub, lake, river, canal or ocean, even when lifeguards are present. »» ALWAYS be aware of potential dan-
gers in all environments, such as when away from home. Never leave your child in an environment with unprotected water hazards. Instruct babysitters and caregivers about potential pool hazards and emphasize the need for constant supervision of children and barriers. If a child is missing, always check the pool or spa first. Whenever infants and toddlers are in or around water, an adult should be within an arm’s length, providing “touch supervision.” In addition to parental supervision, designate a “Water Watcher” to maintain constant watch over children in or near the water. The “Water Watcher” should not talk on the phone, read, cook, clean, or engage in any other distracting activity. After fifteen minutes, a new “Water Watcher” should be designated so that supervision stays fresh. Ensure that the “Water Watcher” is a sober adult who knows CPR and has basic swimming skills. Do not use flotation devices as a substitute for supervision. “Water wings” or “floaties,” inflatable water rings, and other pool toys are NOT safety devices. Only US Coast Guard approved life jackets are designed and tested for safety.
P reparing for E mergencies :
»» Keep a phone poolside for emergency use, so that an adult can call for help if needed. »» Anyone who lives in a home with a pool should learn CPR and rescue breathing. Ensure that babysitters have current CPR training and certification. CPR training and certification should be refreshed every one to two years »» Pool owners and operators should enroll in a local water safety course that teaches proper rescue techniques. »» Keep a life-saving ring and shepherd’s hook at poolside. CPR instructions should be posted poolside. Know how to use the rescue equipment and perform CPR.
S wimming L essons :
»» All adults and children should learn to swim. »» Adults should be smart and aware; never consider children “drown proof ” because they’ve had swim lessons. Nothing will ever eliminate the risk of drowning. Even an Olympic Swimmer can drown. »» Speak with your pediatrician before considering any water safety/swimming lessons for children. With the right instruction, children can gain skills and a love for the water even at a young age. Ensure that swim instruction includes water safety and survival education at the appropriate developmental level. »» Check if the instructor is trained in swim instruction, child development, and currently certified in CPR. Lessons should be continuous, yearround, not taken for just one season.
A dditional R ecommendations : »» Neither adults nor children should swim alone, regardless of the age or ability of the swimmer. »» Talk with teenagers about “risky behavior,” including diving or swimming in unfamiliar water, and the dangers of alcohol or drug use when engaging in recreational water sports or swimming. »» Remove toys from in and around the pool when not in use. Don’t use floating chlorine dispensers that look like toys.
