“So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
From the Pastor’s Desk Reverend Geoff Rach 145 Carmichaels St. Rices Landing, PA 15357 (724) 501-2142 (home) (412) 400-4990 (cell) firstname.lastname@example.org
Who’s ready for a restart to 2014 after this winter? It seems like we’ve spent the first two months of the New Year either cooped up inside
trying to stay warm or outside moving snow. This winter has put many of us in survival mode preventing us from seeing anything beyond cold and snowy days. Maybe you’ve been looking for a fresh start for some time in your life and for your family. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5th. It’s a spiritual New Year. It’s a time of renewal in our lives. We have several opportunities at Hewitt Church in this upcoming Lenten Season to help you grow in your relationship with the Living God. There is Sunday School for all ages, Bible studies and special times of worship and fellowship. Set a goal for yourself and your family of being in worship every Sunday morning during Lent. God desires to make us new people through faith in Jesus Christ. We are told in 2 Corinthians 5:17,
“So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!”
May the Holy Spirit revive us and refresh us at Hewitt Church during this season of Lent.

Mission & Evangelism One Great Hour of Sharing FAITH ENDURES
“Hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts.” - Romans 5:5
“After every storm, hardship and misfortune, a better day follows. By giving generously you can help rebuild strength and brighten lives - bringing promise to prayers of faith. God’s love is evidence that hope exists despite our immediate circumstance. One Great Hour of Sharing depends on YOU to help rebuild strength and brighten lives.”
“Did YOU know: • Gifts to the PC(USA) OGHS are shared by the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program and Self-Development of People programs. • OGHS started after WWII in 1949 with an ecumenical radio appeal and over 75,000 churches participating. • In recent years, Presbyterians have given about $7.5 million annually. • Eight denominations and Church World Service participate in OGHS. • YOUR gifts to OGHS enable these programs to assist in the empowerment of others as they move past emotional, physical and spiritual misfortune.” Fish banks for use during Lent will be offered to families on Sunday, March 2. Last year our offering amounted to $636.05. Let’s consider a goal of $700 for this year. If 30 families at Hewitt gave $25 to OGHS, our offering would amount to $750. $25 over a 7 week period amounts to $3.58 per week…less than a Happy Meal at McDonalds. Will you consider participating in this challenge? There will be bulletin inserts on some Sundays during Lent to give you an idea of where YOUR OGHS offering goes. The fish banks will be collected on Sunday, April 20 - Easter Sunday.
