The$ Garden$ Patch$ is$ an$ urban$ agriculture$ initiative$ of$ the$ Saskatoon$Food$Bank$&$Learning$ Centre.$ Food$ is$ grown$ on$ a$ 1.5$ acre$ vacant$ lot$ in$ the$ heart$ of$ the$city$(near$2nd$Ave.$North$and$ 33rd$ Street),$ and$ distributed$ through$the$food$bank$at$harvest$ time.$ $ The$ Food$ Bank$ Garden$ Patch$ relies$ on$ our$ community’s$ support$ for$ its$ success.$ The$ plants$ are$ maintained$ and$ harvested$ by$ volunteers$ and$ all$ operating$ funds$ are$ donated$ by$ individuals$ and$ businesses$ like$ you!$

Our Garden Patch continues to grow because of people like you! If$you’ve$passed$by$the$300$block$of$2nd$Ave$North$$this$ summer,$chances$are$you’ve$already$been$impressed$by$ the$size$and$beauty$of$the$Garden$Patch.$$$The$initiative$ has$grown$out$of$an$innovative$partnership$with$the$City$ of$Saskatoon$to$transform$unsightly$vacant$lots$into$a$ lush,$productive$garden.$$Now$in$our$fourth$year,$the$ Garden$Patch$has$already$produced$over$50,000$lbs.$of$ fresh,$healthy$food!$

Healthy Food, Healthy Community Families$need$healthy$food$in$order$to$build$healthy$lives.$$ We$make$it$a$priority$to$supply$healthy,$high$quality$food$ to$people$forced$to$turn$to$us$in$a$crisis.$$With$a$focus$on$ community$building,$not$just$community$helping,$we$also$ use$the$Garden$Patch$to$also$increase$knowledge,$skills$ and$expertise.$
