Food for thought
HARVEST Art, Film + Food
The relationship between food and art has never been so richly illustrated than it will be in the Gallery of Modern Art’s (GOMA) latest exhibition, Harvest.
Food has long given sustenance to the artistic imagination, from the exotic spices pictured in 17th century European stilllife paintings to contemporary renderings of global brands.
Brisbane is set to experience Shakespeare’s tragic tale of starcross’d lovers told through breathtaking, glorious dance.
SIR KENNETH MACMILLAN’S ROMEO & JULIET
Queensland Ballet is honoured to be the first company in Australia presenting Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s acclaimed Romeo & Juliet.
GOMA will also serve up a delicious film program, featuring the wickedly sensuous The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, biting doco Supersize Me and high-pressure competitive baking in Kings of Pastry.
Dazzling international guest stars Tamara Rojo, Carlos Acosta and Steven McRae will perform alongside Queensland Ballet’s own exceptionally talented dancers.
Bon appétit. Gallery of Modern Art 28 June – 21 September qagoma.qld.gov.au/harvest
