NAIT Dormitory Keeping in mind that post-secondary can be stressful and jam packed, I wanted to create a dormitory where people could escape to. This is what led me to the concept of a calming enviornment and adding features to help this. Patio gardens on the second and third floor that residents could use year round and flower beds outside of operable windows helped with this concept. I used AutoCAD to create the floor plans. All of the renderings were done by hand using markers and fine liners.

ATB Bank Design With our bank project being located in the Heritage Quarter of downtown Edmonton, I based my concept off of the wide variety of building style and ethnicities in the immediate area. With this in mind I chose to have an eclectic building that reflects the community around it. AutoCAD was used to create the floor plans. SketchUp and IRender were used to create the model and basic renderings. From there I used Photoshop to add the final touches to the renderings.

In second semester I was given the task of creating working drawings Belvedere Community Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. After recreating the original handdrawn plans, a demolition and addition plan were created. The existing handdrawn working drawings and replicated them on AutoCAD. From there I manipulated the existing plans to fit the requirements.

Dorm Working Drawings During my third and fourth semester at Nait, I was given a design sketch of a dormitory done by another student. I took that and developed a set of working drawings. Using AutoCAD, I adjusted the design sketch to meet the requirements of the Alberta Building Code. I used the corrected plan to complete this working drawing package which includes things like exterior elevations and building sections.

These are a few of the details that were completed during second, third, and forth semester. The details were drawn up using AutoCAD. Catalougue cuts and the Alberta Building Code were referenced to ensure the details were drawn correctly.

Martel Residence In my residential elective I was tasked with coming up with a design for a 36’ wide bungalow with a developed basement. I started by sketching a few ideas for the floor plans and elevations. AutoCAD was used to finalize the floor plans and elevations. From there I used SketchUp, iRender, and Photoshop to created these renderings.

I have an interest in renovating old barns into houses or designing houses to look like a classic barn. I added special details that I think would greatly enhance a building like this that is out in the countryside. I sketched out a basic floor plan and elevations. Once I had more knowledge of what a residential building requires I used the sketches and created a preliminary floor plan that meets the Alberta Building Code requirements. SketchUp, IRender, and Photoshop were used to develop a 3D model and renderings.
