HAPPY HOUR

Dine Out: PF Chang’s China Bistro LOCATED ACROSS FROM LULULEMON ATHLETICA DRINKS | DIM SUM | STREET FARE Nothing beats a great happy hour, that’s why P.F. Chang’s China Bistro has created the Triple Happiness Happy Hour. Every day from 3pm to 6pm, P.F. Chang’s is serving up delicious dim sum, creative street fare, and refreshing, elegant cocktails. Dim sum—roughly translated as “delights of the heart”—originated in Canton, China, as a snack in the teahouses along the Silk Route. Travelers would stop for tea and eat

the unassuming little dumplings in quiet reflection before continuing on their journey.

P.F. Chang’s has taken dim sum one step further, offering lettuce wraps, dumplings, and wontons. Not sure what to try first? Go for the Flaming Red Wontons, pork-filled wontons that come nestled in a spicy garlic-sesame soy sauce. Asian street fare is simple food cooked in an open market atmosphere. Lucky, you don’t

dragon matini

need to travel around Asia to experience it. P.F. Chang’s has done all the work for you—well except the hardest part—deciding which dish to order. But whether it’s red pork, Korean beef or the crunch of tuna tataki, you owe it to yourself to explore the new tastes of these Asian street tacos. Sipping on something invigorating while surrounded by classic ambience and smiling faces is how it should be done. P.F. Chang’s has an impressive drink menu full

of refreshing surprises with Asian twist. The Dragon Martini, a favorite at the bar, boasts an intense red color and splashes of dragon fruit and pomegranate. If martinis aren’t for you, try the Coconut Lemon Sour or the crisp Yuzu Ginger Mojito. The menu is extensive, aiming to please all palates and pair well with whatever is between your chopsticks. Whether it’s a quick meeting with a client, a night out with the girls, or a meeting place to begin a great date, the Triple Happiness Happy Hour at P.F. Chang’s is a fun way to share artfully crafted Chinese cuisine and sip on something bold and new.

WINTER FASHION Add some new layering pieces and accessories to your closet this fall. It will increase your options without denting your wall. Add these pieces to your existing wardrobe to

update and refresh existing outfits. Now you have a little extra cash to spend on staple items like a great warm jacket or winter boots. Don’t forget, layers not only help to keep you at a comfortable temperature, they’re also the trendy look for this season. Items by Eileen Fisher

FASHION TIPS: Pull back your hair when wearing a sweater with a statement collar, the neckline will look cleaner and more sophisticated. Invest in a pair of elbow length gloves and tuck them up in to your sleeve — it will help eliminate that annoying (and chilly) gap between your sleeve and hand.

Get cozy with some of our favorite sweaters from Anthropologie this fall. Sweaters are the perfect piece for layering under a warm coat or wearing alone on crisp autumn days.

A Pasion for Fashion Mapel Boutique

Village Style sits down with owner of Mapel Boutique, Staci Stevens, to talk about the store and winter fasion trends. What you decide to open Mapel Boutique? After studying design at OSU and working for Nordstrom Product Group in Seattle for six years, I wanted to do something with the valuable experience in garment construction, design and fabrications that I had learned. I always knew I wanted to own my own boutique, so I opened Mapel Boutique in an effort to offer an accessible shopping experience; in price and personality. Why are you passionate about fashion? I think what your wear directly affects how you feel about yourself. That’s not to say you need to wear something new every day, but if you are wearing a pair of jeans that fits you perfectly (which Mapel can help you find amongst

our Extensive assortment of denim), or a necklace that is a one of a kind and made by a local designer, or a new coat that doesn’t break the bank, you feel confident and just fabulous. Bestselling product? As we go into the colder months, our outerwear is what we’re known for. I already have customers making regular visits to see what styles we get in each week. Our outerwear ranges from $72 and upwards to $168. Alongside our outerwear winter accessories like scarves, hats, gloves. We even have “convertible” gloves that are designed to make it easier to text. What is the typical shopping experience like at Mapel Boutique? Casual, comfortable, and memorable. We strive to create some form of relationship with each customer. We also find that our customers ask us a lot of questions. They want to know how long we’ve been here, what LOCALLY we specialize in and what makes us special. DIFFERENT: We love that about Bridgeport Village. Our customers really want to know what we’re Mapel about, which means they care. Boutique What made you choose Bridgeport Village for your store? I love offering the Bridgeport Village customer a local boutique

that is different from the larger retailers. I think the well balanced wardrobe has a mix of prices and labels which is all represented in the Bridgeport Village store collection. What is your favorite aspect of Bridgeport Village? The customers. Prior to Bridgeport Village, Mapel was located in Washington for 3 years and we never had the relationship we now have with our customers. Our customers have become the foundation of our business. What should we be wearing this Winter? I think last year’s cold and everlasting winter has brought on an emphasis in cozy dressing. We’re seeing a lot of fur this year. Instead of going all out with your fur, think about a fur trim (see Mapel’s Plaid Justin Jacket or Fur Trimmed Poncho), and chunky lofty sweater (see Mapel’s Rouched-side Sweater or Elongated Cardi). Secondly there is a native inspired theme in prints and dressing. I think the reviving of Portland Based Pendleton Collection has brought on this trend (see Mapel’s Bostwick Camel Pattern Coat or Karen Shearling Coat).
