Vol. 1

Hi, I’m Jeff and I am the Student Union President. I am 41 years old and I am in my fourth year at the college studying HND Performing Arts.

A message from the Principal

‘Hi Everyone It is hard to believe that it is now May and before we know it, the end of the academic year will be upon us. I hope that you are all working really hard at the moment. Those of you who are going to be taking exams shortly need to be revising really hard and going through practice papers as much as you can. Those of you who are on vocational courses need to be ensuring that all your assignments are in and that you are resubmitting to get better grades if at all possible. It is a critical time for all of you with your future plans dependent on how the next few weeks go. Staff are here to support and help you so please make sure you make full use of them. Good luck!’ Amanda

I play guitar and I have completed level 2 and 3 courses in music. I have a varied taste in music but always seem to end up playing rock music most of the time. I love my guitars, they are my prized possessions and the only things more valuable to me are my two sons. My experience of college has been a positive one and I have become fond of my fellow students and lecturers. I would love to teach in a college environment when I am finished with my studies. When I am not studying, playing guitar or spending time with my children, I am volunteering with Boston United in the Community. I provide support at two to three multisport sessions a week. Through my work with Boston United I have acquired level 1 football and badminton coaching qualifications. Finally, I am an advocate of Boston College and on Thursday 2nd May I subjected myself to a sponsored full body wax for the college’s Be Brilliant charity, I raised a huge £194.70 thank you to everyone who sponsored me. If you would like to contact me about this, the Student Union or any information about upcoming events from music and the performing arts please e-mail me at

Student News! Bringing the news to you!

Hello! Hi! My names Chloe French and I am a student at Boston College studying sport. Not only am I a student put I am also course representative and Student Governor. I have recently heard back from all of my universities and got into the course that I have aspired to do, which is Sports Coaching Science with Disability at Worcester university. One of my main goals is to make disability sports of all ages and abilities as well know and easy to access as any other sport. Not only within the sporting industry but developing access for all disabilities on a whole. Recently in my college experience I have been planning a multi sports club for disabilities. If you wish to develop your time at Boston college you can do it if you put your mind to it! My college email is below if you would like to contact me about how I managed to do so and how it could help you too! So how can you be involved with spots within Boston college? Every Wednesday after 1pm the sports department run different activities including football, netball, badminton, table tennis, golf and many more. If you fancy trying a new sport you are more than welcome to come down to Peter Paine Performance Centre where all the staff are friendly and open minded for and other sporting suggestions and involvements. Once you and come and give it a go there is a chance that you could represent your college in a team or fixtures, however there is no pressure to do this and you can just come to try something new for enjoyment and to meet new people. If you want to know more, please feel free to contact me by emailing

I’m Thomas Connor but you can call me Tom. I’m studying Hospitality L3 and loving every minute of it. I am a course representative but I also got elected as one of the executive learners. Rather than the catering side of it I prefer the front of house job roles, which involves communicating, resolving problems and generally being friendly and welcoming. My main hobbies include helping my friends out, listening to music and going out with friends. If you have any questions or I can help you out with anything please don’t hesitate to come and find near the Bistro or email

Hi ya! My name’s Ben Wright and I am studying Motor Vehicle Level 2, it has been quite the adventure with ups and downs, all thoroughly enjoyable. At the College I am a group representative and one of the elected student Governors. Doing these roles has helped me gain higher levels of concentration and taught me when to be serious! In my spare time I enjoy socialising with my friends, skateboarding and working on my motorbike. If you have any motors to sell e.g. Scooters etc. please email me at

Careers drop-in sessions! Hey all, I’m Alex Clarke and I’m studying A Levels so I’m at the Sixth Form Block every day. I am a course representative and a student exec. I’m really into guitar playing and my music. Blink182 being my all-time favourite band ever for the sheer fact that they’re awesome! (Good reason!) I’m also into Xbox and PC gaming, enjoying both casual and more competitive games, but I definitely believe the best are the RPGs, where you control the life of your character *cough* Skyrim! Lastly, one of my hobbies is taking my dog (Gem) to agility training, where each dog tries to complete the set course of obstacles as quickly as possible. I say that I take my dog, but if I’m honest, it’s me that needs the training to guide her through it all! If you have any questions, opinions or suggestions to improve College life, feel free to send an email at my way so that I can possibly present your ideas at the next Student Rep Meeting!
