Cerritos Deputy Sheriffs gave a whole new meaning to "protect and serve" at a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser Aug. 24 at Wood Ranch BBQ and Grill where customers waited in line to meet officers who served as celebrity waiters. They donated all the tips they received to local Special Olympics programs.

Tip-A-Cop has been a favorite way

for officers to raise money, and the public loves to have the officers wait on them hand and foot.

Tip-A-Cop events are one of the main fundraisers for the Law Enforcement Torch Run®, which is one of the largest fundraising arms of Special Olympics Southern California. All tips are tax-deductible and support sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
