SFX:

SFX:

Cut to still image of Chinese village. (EXTREME LONG SHOT & KEN BURNS EFFECT)

NARR: All the water would soon be used up in the village and so the people are getting worried.

Cut to still image of farmers digging a hole. (LONG SHOT & KEN BURNS EFFECT)

NARR: A group of men decide to dig a well near the base of a nearby mountain where a local river begins.

Cross dissolve to same still image of farmers digging a hole. (LONG SHOT & OPPOSITE KEN BURNS EFFECT)

NARR: The farmers continue digging for a long time. Then one of the farmers strikes something hard. He believes it’s probably a stone that needs moving.

Cut to still image of Terracotta Warrior head. (CLOSE UP & KENS BURNS EFFECT)

NARR: To their great surprise they discover the ‘rock’ is a head made out of clay!

Cut to still image of fragments of Terracotta Warrior. (MEDIUM SHOT & KENS BURNS EFFECT)

NARR: The farmers continue digging and find more pieces of clay warriors. They realize what an important discovery they have found.

NARR: It’s March of 1974. Outside the city of Xi’an China, a small village is experiencing the effects of the annual drought. (CHINESE FOLK MUSIC FADES IN)

Fade to still image of archeologist digging. (EXTREME LONG SHOT & KEN BURNS EFFECT)

NARR: Not long after the discovery, Chinese archeologists arrive and begin digging all around.

Fade to still images of various pits. (EXTREME LONG SHOT & KEN BURNS EFFECT)

NARR: After a year of digging, they eventually discover four pits; three of which contain many different kinds of clay figures.

Fade in still image of it with rows of Terracotta Warriors. (EXTREME LONG SHOT & KEN BURNS EFFECT)

NARR: The farmers search for water brought about a momentous discovery for the Chinese and eventually the rest of the world.

Cut back to still images of groups of soldiers and fade out. (MEDIUM SHOT & KEN BURNS EFFECT)

NARR: China’s Terracotta Army is one of the greatest architectural wonders of the ancient world due to its vast size and the detail of craftsmanship.
