New internist at Sutter Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Fatima Memon has joined Sutter Delta Medical Group. She is a graduate of Al-Ameen Medical College in Bijapur, India, where she earned honors in 1999. Memon worked at various health clinics and hospitals in India from 2000 to 2005. In July of 2005 she entered the internal medicine residency program at Morristown Memorial Hospital, N.J., a 650-bed, tertiary-care facility and a Level II trauma center. Morristown Memorial is the flagship hospital of Atlantic Health, and one of the largest hospitals in New Jersey. Memon completed her residency program in August of 2008.
Her primary professional interests include internal medicine, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of adults. She also does research in women’s health and preventive medicine. “I strive to get to know my patients on a one-to-one level,” said Memon. “This gives me a better understanding of them on multiple levels – social, economic and environmental. Knowing the patient on a more personal level enables me to provide better overall care.” Memon will serve the residents of East Contra Costa at Sutter Regional Medical Foundation, Sutter Delta Medical Group, 4053 Lone Tree Way in Antioch.
