Designed for absolute clarity and legibility, white SuperLumiNova® hands stand out against a black (Model 1) or dark grey (Model 247) base dial with highly visible applied indexes also using SuperLumiNova®. The signature Boeing ‘tick’, a nod to the aerospace company’s logo, can also be found at the end of the centre seconds (Model 1) and chronograph seconds (Model 247) hands. Whilst the original Bremont Boeing watches incorporate a sapphire bezel, these GMT models feature an anthracite ceramic bezel with highlighted minute markers signalling the first time Bremont has used ceramic in any of its watches to date. THE HISTORY OF BOEING Not many companies can lay claim to be launching into their second century, but aerospace giant Boeing is looking forward to celebrating its centenary in 2016. When Bill Boeing saw a piloted flying machine for the first time in 1909, it launched a curiosity for flight that would one day make him a household name. He purchased and learned to fly an aircraft in 1915 but realised he could manufacture an improved version to his own design. That first instinct – to Build Something Better –lay at the heart of every advance by the company from that time through its first 100 years.

In June 1916 Bill Boeing built his very first aircraft, the Model 1 seaplane, and decided to make aviation his business. Boeing designed, manufactured and sold seaplanes to the US Navy during World War One. THE JAGUAR E-TYPE AN AUTOMOTIVE LEGEND The Jaguar E-Type sports car, created by former aircraft designer Malcolm Sayer, was unveiled outside the Restaurant du Parc des Eaux Vives during the Geneva Salon at 4.30 pm on March 15, 1961. Its radical appearance and promise of being ‘the fastest production car in the world’ caused near hysteria and resulted in 500 orders being placed during the show.

It’s powered by a race-bred, six-cylinder, 3.8 litre, 265 horsepower engine that gave the car a top speed of 150 mph - yet, at £2,098 for the roadster and £2,197 for the fixed-head coupé, it cost less than half the price of a comparable Ferrari or Aston Martin.

During its 14-year production run, the E-Type evolved to feature first a 4.2 litre engine and, ultimately, Jaguar’s 5.3 litre V12. It was offered with manual or automatic transmission and, in final ‘Series 3’ form, fixed-head models were available only with family-friendly twoplus-two bodywork.

More than 72,000 E-Types were built, with around 12,000 being sold in Britain and the majority going to the USA. Celebrated owners included Frank Sinatra, George Harrison, Britt Ekland, Peter Sellers, Sir Jackie Stewart and George Best. The best Series 1 ‘flat floor’ E-Type roadsters now command more than £100,000.

BREMONT EXTENDS Z SERIES WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE ALT1-ZT Having been part of the launch collection back in 2007 the ALT1-Z has become an iconic Bremont timepiece over the years.

BREMONT INTRODUCES U-22 BRONZE TO THE EXISTING U-2 RANGE Baselworld 2015 sees the launch of the U-22, an extension of the U-2 collection which was originally designed for and inspired by the elite U-2 spy plane squadron. The new U-22 design is the result of a high profile military project where Bremont was commissioned to update the original U-2, using the extensive testing history behind it, but built and customtested to specific requirements. Taking its design cues from this squadron timepiece the U-22 features a newly developed bezel design together with a new barrel colour and date design for the range.

True to its aviation roots, the updated date display was designed to reflect the view on an altimeter which balances the dial well. There is also a difference with the bi-directional rotating inner bezel, originally designed to measure 60 minutes, and altered in the U-22 to a compass quadrant of a pilot which is often useful in navigation weather mapping. The bronze barrel colour was specifically inspired by a number of military watches Bremont has produced in the past based on the anti-reflective coating used on their cockpit canopies.

For each year Bremont attends Baselworld, the show gets a little bit more grown up for us. A far cry from all of those years ago when we would attend with a tray of watches! BREMONT TO OPEN FIRST STANDALONE BOUTIQUE IN NEW YORK Bremont is delighted to announce the opening of its first standalone store in the US The boutique, which is planned to open in early spring 2015, is located in the newly refurbished and historic 501 Madison Avenue in midtown Manhattan, and at the heart of New York’s luxury district.

The Bremont boutique will be positioned on the ground floor in a retail space of 900sq ft with additional space on the first floor covering 860sq ft where a dedicated Bremont service centre will house trained watchmakers, helping to look after the ever-increasing US retailer base. The watch boutique, which represents an important milestone for Bremont, has been carefully designed and fitted to elegantly showcase the brand’s collection of beautifully engineered mechanical timepieces.

The boutique is laid out to tell Bremont’s story alongside that of its key partnerships. A framed Jaguar exhibit will sit alongside a hand finished leather wall which has a Bremont movement beautifully embossed on it. The Boeing partnership will be highlighted by videos on a transparent LCD screen which also incorporates the product, and a signature Martin-Baker ejector seat will also be on display.

The interior structure of the boutique has been redesigned to reflect Bremont’s unique story and luxury heritage, apart from the existing marble floor, which is being restored by local craftsmen and was the original foyer of the building. With a palette of black wood, chrome and fine leather the design aims to be simple and elegant, enhancing the watches and highlighting the excellence in manufacture and precision craftsmanship.

The main displays which flank the front area of the store are framed in chrome and are incorporated into wood panelling.

Each front of store display will be dedicated to a Bremont core range, whilst the rear is a relaxed area dedicated to Bremont partnerships. Elements of the watches have been incorporated into the design with the fixture handles being modified straps and cabinet handles replicating Bremont’s distinctive barrel.

A traditional fireplace and seating area is a place for customers to relax. The centrepiece of this area is a bespoke coffee table incorporating hundreds of Bremont watch parts that showcases the complexity and number of components needed to produce a mechanical watch.

Furthermore the new boutique will enable Bremont to support its enormously popular Bremont Adventurers Club (BAC) in the US, where ambassadors and friends of the brand share their experiences with interested Bremont owners and their guests.

BREMONT LAUNCHES NEW PARTS MANUFACTURING FACILITY, SILVERSTONE Bremont is making considerable investment in its UK watchmaking and manufacturing and at the end of 2014 launched a new facility in Silverstone to manufacture case and movement components. Building on the brand’s significant in-house watch making knowledge, together with experience from the F1 industry, the facility is located at Silverstone to capitalise on local transferable skills in the CNC and machining space.

This is part of a long staged investment programme and has seen Bremont invest in some state-of-the-art CNC mill-turning, metal cutting and finishing machinery, some of which are the first of their kind in this country. This investment will enable Bremont to manufacture significant quantities of beautifully engineered and finished watch parts on British shores.
