Our Why Grief impacts everyone. No one on this earth is exempt. Each of us will directly face grief many times throughout our lifetimes, not including the number of times when we will be touched by it through another’s pain.

Imagine what it would be like to live in a world where topics like grief weren’t avoided; where each of us leaned into our experience to intentionally process our pain. Imagine what it would look like to have a community that would walk the grief journey alongside you.

Breathe Hope Twenty-Four, Inc. exists to move the needle in the area of grief.

Grief can leave us feeling alone and hopeless. It touches every part of our lives, and if we are not intentional about building community and finding real hope, it can send us down a dark path.

Our Grief Philosophy Our philosophy on grief centers around the Gospel of Jesus Christ. True and lasting hope can be found in Him, and only in Him. We see the value in building relationships with those experiencing grief and guiding them towards finding a true and lasting hope for their own lives. We, unfortunately, live in the world where the message of mental health is selfcentered and satanic.

Our resources and programs will be founded in Gospel truths so that any that we get to know receive the truth.

We desire to be process-oriented, not program-oriented. Since grief is a lifelong process, it is important to us to focus on building relationships with others facing grief. Grief can be a uniting experience and as we build relationships, we will keep the picture of salvation at the front of our minds.

People will not care what you know until they know that you care.

Missionaries to those Grieving At the heart of Breathe Hope TwentyFour, Inc. is the Gospel. In Acts 2, we see that as believers, we are to minister to others. We are to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those around us...those in our neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities. Through the life of our late son, Noah Lane, we are burdened to come alongside those who are hurting. Grief is an equalizing experience; it has the potential to bring each of us to our rock bottom. Our hope is that in these dark moments in people’s lives, God would give us the opportunity to minister and share the true source of hope in the Gospel.

2023 Goals & Strategy Partnerships We sought to find a combination of ministry, corporate, and individual partners. Since this was our first year, our goal was to start a foundation of partnerships that would help us get off the ground. We were grateful to find two corporate partners: Jarrett and Hummel Group, both out of Orrville, Ohio. We also started a ministry partnership with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Smithville, Ohio.

Additionally, we are blessed with four individual commitments to monthly giving.

Resources Since our world is lacking in solid grief resources, we looked to find resources that would both help the griever process their pain but also find healthy ways to release the emotions they feel. We were given a book called Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy in early 2022 and found the principles to be helpful in our own journey. We mail out copies of this book, the companion devotional, and a pamphlet that we created that clearly shares the Gospel in the context of grief and loss.

Events Because community is crucial in processing grief in a healthy way, we made it our goal to build the foundation of what we called Finding Hope Again Grief Events.

At these events, we bring in faithbased experts in grief and counseling to speak to various grief topics. The hope is to inform people about their grief, to connect with our target audience, and to create an environment where individuals grieving can connect with others who are walking similar journeys.

Brand Recognition Since this was our first year in ministry, we made it a goal to slowly weave our name into various places.

As we became partners with companies and churches this year, we have started to build a community of partnerships that will all help in building our brand credibility.

Additionally, we became members of the Orrville Chamber of Commerce in November, which will further this goal into 2024.

Grief is something that affects everyone. However, in a society that is death-averse, many are unprepared with how to process through the complex emotions, feelings, and symptoms that come with grief...This organization is so special to my heart, and I feel very grateful that I was able to participate [in a grief event].

2023 Impact Hope Again Kits In 2023, we received many requests and sent 105 Hope Again Kits, ranging from here in Ohio all the way to Germany, Canada, California, and a few states in between.

Finding Hope Again Grief Event We spent much of 2023 planning our pilot grief event. We were introduced to our facilitator, David Hargrave, who serves as a Bereavement Counseling Professional at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in addition to his LSW, CCTP, and CGCS credentials.

On October 28, we welcomed 21 individuals for our pilot event. These individuals comprised of friends, family, and some of Noah’s nurses from Akron Children’s Hospital, who were all willing to experience the event and provide feedback that we can use as we start rolling out public events. The event was a day-long event with four sessions: an Introduction to Grief, the Impact Child Loss has on the Family System, Realistic Expectations of Grief, and the Road Ahead - the Path to Hope.

The event served as an opportunity to connect with others grieving and also lay the foundation of finding ultimate hope in the grief journey.

Our 2024 Strategy Since we are viewing Breathe Hope Twenty-Four, Inc. as a mission and ministry to those who are facing the grief journey, we will focus on building relationships. While we will continue to send the Hope Again Grief Kits as they are requested, the bigger strategic focus will be the grief events. We plan to have a minimum of two events in 2024, these being the first public events. Our hope is to use these events as the starting point of a relationship with those who attend so we can begin to build true community.

We will continue to partner with David Hargrave to facilitate these events, but the location will change each time. The events moving forward will not be specific to child loss, but will zoom out to be relevant and applicable for any type of grief.

We are looking ahead at the long game.

While we will continue facilitating and planning events at partner facilities, it is our desire in the future to own our own retreat center. We pray that God would bless us someday towards that goal.

In 2024, our hope is also to see an increase in monthly donors and support.

Through our corporate, ministry, and individual partnerships, we would like to increase our monthly donors from four to 10. As we begin to see more monthly support rather than one-time gifts, we will be able to budget and plan ahead for future growth.
