County facilities will be closed on the following    holidays this quarter:  September 5 – Labor Day   November 11 – Veterans Day     November 24‐26 – Thanksgiving                 Open Gym  The Recreation Center Gym is available for open play when no program or rental is scheduled.  Call prior to your visit for open gym  hours.  The fees for open gym are $2 each day for adults and $1 each day for children ages 12 and under.    Website  Event cancellations due to inclement weather, etc. are posted on our website at under “Updates.” You may also find  additional information on our parks & facilities and program registration.    Advisory Board  A Recreation Advisory Board has been appointed by the Board of Commissioners to act as a guide for CRPA in planning and  implementation of public recreational activities and programs as well as offering advice on a system of parks and facilities that will  accommodate the needs of the public. Board members’ terms run concurrent with appointing Board of Commissioners.     Photograph/Video Policy  On occasion, CRPA may photograph or videotape registrants, participants, and spectators in Agency programs, special events, or  facilities.  Such photographs are for Agency use only and may be used in publications, brochures, pamphlets, flyers, websites or  video productions.

SAFETY CLASSES  ARC Lifeguard Class‐ Blended Learning  Ages:                15 years or older  Min/Max:            6/12   Cost:                 $200   

This class will provide you with an American Red Cross  Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR for Professional Rescuer, Nationally  recognized Certification.     You must be 15 years of age by the last day of class and be  able to complete the following skills on the first day to be  able to continue the class:  swim 300 yds. Continuously,  tread water for two minutes legs only, and retrieve 10lb.  brick from 7 ft of water.  Students must attend every day of  class, and be on time to class, and pass all exams to  become certified.   

For this class you will need to come prepared to swim  every day, and be on the floor for training. Please bring a  packed lunch or you may purchase food at our concessions  stand.

  REGISTRATION INFORMATION:  Registration for Safety classes begins Monday, August 1 at  9:00am. Registration is available online at by  clicking the “Register Online” button in the top right  corner, or at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center Front  Desk. Registration for all classes ends 5 days before the  first class of the session. Classes with fewer than 6 students  will be cancelled. Please see Swim Lesson page for refund  policy. *BLENDED LEARNING*‐ these classes are part  online, part in class. Your class fee will be discounted by  $35.00 because you will pay that fee directly to the Red  Cross.

Lessons are usually offered in packs of 4, 6 or 8 lessons depending on the session (most sessions do not have 8 classes available).

Refund/Credit Policy:

If you cancel a session 11 or more days prior to the first class, you can receive a refund less the $5 processing fee. You may also choose to move the payment to the next session of your choice and the processing fee will be waived. If you cancel a class session within 10 days of the first class you will be offered a 50% refund. (If the class has already begun, you will also be prorated for any classes that have occurred.) To request a refund, you must fill out a refund request form at the Aquatic Center Front Desk.


If you have registered for a class and need to be moved to a different class, email with the subject line “Transfer Request” Please note the Participant’s Name, What class they’re registered for, and which specific class you would like to transfer them to. Please note transfers are not guaranteed, and will be granted based on availability.

Compete with other lap swimmers to see who can complete the most laps in the month of November. A log will be kept at the lifeguard table on the pool deck. There is no cost for participating, but if you swim the most, you will win an Adult Annual pass to the Aquatic Center.
