And to borrow it we had to bribe Fred Sutherland, the owner of this beautiful car. In exchange for a simple plug as to the real reason he was at Willow Springs he would let us photograph the car that any pop star named Justin Bieber would kill to have. So, here are the pictures. Now here is his plug. See the real reason for Mr. Sutherland’s visit lies with that ugly orange thing hidden in the background. Usually, I would pay no attention to a project car but this orange beast is as loud and obnoxious as Tony the Tiger. And since I believe anyone who is invited to the Pebble Beach Golf Course 6 WSL | willowspringsraceway.com

Since this is our first issue, we feel we are due for an introduction. While we do a great job

appearing to have the money of a russian billionaire, we don’t. And this Fisker Karma—while it may seem like we’re finally goin’ green—guess what? We borrowed it...

to attend any event must be of much importance, we will give Sir Sutherland the respect his car is due and refer to the orange thing in the background by it’s real name—a Mustang. It’s a vintage one at that. So vintage in fact that it will be included in the Monterey Historics race event and tied in with one of the most prestigious car shows in the United States—Pebble Beach Concours. Still, having said all that, there is no pressure Fred, because that has to be the loudest Mustang that has ever lived. willowspringsblog.com | WSL 7

Willow Springs International Motor sports Park is a 600acre complex of eight racetracks embracing nearly every conceivable motor sports discipline. The park is located about an hour north of Los Angeles, California near Lancaster. The original track at the facility, Willow Springs International Raceway, celebrates its 55th birthday this year, and is steeped in historical significance. Construction of the track began in 1952, with the inaugural event held on November 23, 1953. Willow Springs International Raceway is a super-fast 2.5-mile 10 WSL | willowspringsraceway.com

/ nine-turn road racing circuit, patterned after the great courses and road racing traditions of Europe, and is unchanged from its original 1953 configuration. Also known as the Fastest Road in the West, this track is one of the safest road courses in the world, despite its high velocities. Cornering speeds on this track range from about 70 mph to over 170 mph, with straightaway speeds nearing 200 mph possible with fastest cars and motorcycles. Guests can see almost the entire racecourse from just about anywhere, including the many track side camping areas. Spectator amenities include

two full-service diners with full bars, a well-stocked gift shop, plenty of spectators seating and parking modern rest rooms, and outstanding viewing areas. Large viewing areas are available for RV parking and camping, including several full hookups for trailers and motor homes. Racer amenities include several enclosed garages available for use by competitors and testers, with racing fuel and tire services available at the track daily. Thanks to the fans the State of California declared Willow Springs International Raceway as a California Point of Historical Interest in 1996. WS
