Megan Smith, CTO of the U.S., gave an unplugged MAKERS Talk on the importance of girls in STEM and giving visibility to women in technology who have been written out of history. Girls in STEM 3D printed a prosthetic hand for a young girl. Our CMO Power Conversation was about “Cracking The Code to Doing It All.” Over 100+ women join us on our Girls Gone Walkin’ Floor Tour.

SXSW March 13 â€“ 15, 2015 Our anti-bullying app was presented to the amazing Lizzie Velasquez. Female entrepreneurs in our Queen Bee pitch competition were given feedback and guidance on their ventures. Cat Greenleaf, host of NBCâ€™s Talk Stoop, hosted interviews with celebrities on our stoop.

March 16 – 18, 2015 Our ashram “oasis” refreshed & rejuvenated our attendees. Our unplugged Power Conversation “Better Than Perfect” was about authenticity, owning who you are and being the best that you can be.

We helped women create their “digital resumes”. We 3D printed personalized coverlets for female prosthetics. Confidence coaching focused on finding your “Intuitive Compass” and we shared stories on how to “Skirt The Rules”.
The Girls’ Lounge Gives Back October 9 – 11, 2015 A weekend retreat with 40 girls from around the world to connect, discover their confidence, lift each other up and have unplugged conversations. We hosted an “Ask Her” session where the girls asked female executives unplugged questions related to career, work life balance and confidence.

International Day of the Girl October 11, 2015 The Girls’ Lounge partnered with Barneys New York and First Lady Michelle Obama’s organization, Let Girls Learn, to celebrate IDG. We launched a global campaign, asking people to answers: “Anything is possible when...#GirlPossible.” Our message and campaign was shared on the windows of 15 Barneys New York stores across the country and on digital billboards in Times Square. We hosted a Girls’ Lounge where Megan Smith, CTO of the U.S. and Rosie Rios, Treasurer of the U.S., discussed the importance of sharing and celebrating the stories of women who have made a difference in history.
The Girlsâ€™ Lounge Goes to the White House December 16 â€“ 18th, 2015 Over 35 female executives joined us in Washington D.C. for important conversations about the wage gap and creating gender balanced companies with Megan Smith, CTO for the U.S., and Rosie Rios, Treasurer of the U.S. Our first day began with a tour of the White House followed by a roundtable solutions dinner. The following day we toured The Bureau of Engraving and Printing and The U.S Department of the Treasury where we had an insightful discussion about closing the wage gap.
NEVER DOUBT THAT A SMALL GROUP OF THOUGHTFUL, COMMITTED CITIZENS CAN CHANGE THE WORLD. INDEED, IT’S THE ONLY THING THAT EVER HAS.
Our plans for 2016 are even bigger and bolder. From our Femenism campaign, to the development and launch of our Modern Manifesto of Femenism, and over 10 planned Girlsâ€™ Lounges at industry conferences, we are destined to have an amazing year. Let the journey continue as we work to create meaningful change for this and future generations of women.
