THE ARTIST
About McKayla Hagen Founder of Beyond Pine
I’m McKayla Hagen — an artist, designer, and founder of Beyond Pine. I was raised on the northern plains and now live on a small farm where stillness and open space offer the clarity I need to create. I’ve always felt like an old soul — shaped by the raw honesty of the women before me, and the quiet, wordless strength of my father. When I once asked if he’d ever had a dream, he told me: “I’m living my dream. I live it every day.” That moment became a blueprint for how I choose to live and create.
For over a decade, I’ve helped others tell their stories through photography, branding, and design. I also live the lifestyle that often shows up in my work — our family ranch keeps me connected to the land, the seasons, and the kind of hard-earned beauty that doesn’t need to announce itself.
Beyond Pine is different. It’s where I honor the people who’ve shaped me — not by telling their stories, but by translating how their presence made me feel. Each collection is a tribute. Not to perfection, but to purpose. To love, to grit, and to the subtle moments that stay with you.
I create through instinct. Through feeling. Every pattern begins with a mood, a memory, or a quiet detail most might miss. I don’t design to impress — I design to honor.
I believe creativity is a form of reverence. That beauty and purpose often show up in the same place. And that when we create from what’s real, it lasts.
Steady. Story-rich. Rooted in what matters. That’s the kind of work I believe in. The kind that carries purpose. The kind that moves me.

LOLA’S TUNE PATTERN STORY — PRIMARY COLORWAY
— Fourteen designs. Two colorways.
This set of patterns captures the world Lola moved through — bold boots, bridle straps, layered florals, and the steady marks of a life live. Each motif was drawn from memory: the curve of a fence vine, the feel of stitched leather, the silhouette of a flower left drying in a pickup dash. The palette grounds these details with warmth and wear — soft neutrals, faded blush, and dusty greys that echo spring wind, sun-worn cotton, and the quiet rhythm of everyday motion.

COLORWAY TWO: DUST TO DENIM,
These tones are worn-in and quiet — built from dusty trails and faded denim. They carry the memory of work, rhythm, and weather — soft where they’ve been broken in, and steady where they’ve stayed true.

THE PATTERN STORY of Lola’s Tune

The Heart Behind Lola’s Tune
A surface pattern collection inspired by heritage, movement, and a woman who lived boldly.
Lola’s Tune is a collection born from motion — of music, horses, and a woman who didn’t wait for permission to live out her dreams. Inspired by Lola, a bold and spirited woman who raised purebred quarter and paint horses by day and played in a country band by night, these patterns are drawn from memory and motion, not perfection. She would say: “Put a dollar in one pocket and red lipstick in the other.” That was her rhythm — unshakable, unapologetic, and unforgettable.

Bring Lola’s Tune to Life
This Collection is ready to ride into its next chapter — on fabrics, in homes, and through meaningful product partnerships.
Rooted in rhythm and built from memory, these designs offer a fresh take on heritage — grounded, feminine, and quietly bold. If your brand values story-rich art that feels both refined and real, I’d love to explore a collaboration.
