The baby of an Italian shoe dude who loves watches and two eco-smart entrepreneurs with a crush on the environment, WE fashions wooden timepieces from mostly scrap-wood and uses state-of-the-art Miyota movements for the guts, resulting in a unique watch that's handsome, earth-friendly, and splash-proof. The first timepiece was designed in Florence, Italy (2010) and with the widespread craving for newstalgia and eco-friendly ethos, WEwood hit the scene as the avant-garde approach to sophisticated sustainability. A few months later, WEwood opened a branch in Los Angeles, CA and teamed up with tree-plantingpartner, American Forests. With this happy pact, the goal is to help restore Mother Nature, one watch at a time, by planting a tree for every WeWOOD purchased. In just the first three months, WEwood planted 5,000 trees with American Forests, and sets challenging targets for 2011 and beyond. Keeping forests healthy and happy keeps us healthy and happy, we like to keep our reminder on our wrist.

Why WEwood?

Here’s what people are saying about WEwood: •

I love WEwood, because they use natural materials

they plant a tree for each watch bought

It's SO lightweight, you barely notice it’s on your arm ...and about the style:

they are amazing to look at!

the proportions are perfect for the slightly oversized trendy look

it pulls off sophistication so I can sport it with my corporate suit, yet it's obscure and risque enough to satisfy my inner fashionista!

WEwood partners with American Forests to plant one tree for every WEwood purchased. Our Goal: Restoring Mother Nature - One Watch at a Time Established in 1875, American Forests is the nation’s oldest nonprofit conservation organization, and is recognized as a world leader in environmental restoration because of their dedicated tree-planting efforts. This year, American Forests’ Global ReLeaf Campaign will plant 4.8 million trees in 43 projects in 14 states and 10 countries to help restore forests important for wildlife, clean water, and carbon sequestration. There are two types of Global ReLeaf projects: 1) In urban areas, trees are planted through the Global ReLeaf Fund. The program also encourages individuals to plant trees around their homes and businesses or join community groups to plant trees that shade, cool, and beautify their neighborhoods. 2) Most of our trees are planted in ecosystem restoration projects called Global ReLeaf Forests. Many of these areas have been damaged by natural or human causes. These trees help clean the air and water, filter polluted runoff, slow global warming and erosion, and provide habitat for wildlife.

By the end of 2010, American Forests will have planted over 35 million trees in projects across the United States and internationally. The goal is to plant 100 million trees by 2020.

The U.S. Forest Service and other officials prepare to assist actor Val Kilmer, (second from left) at American Forests' 20 millionth tree planting. The tree was planted on September 18, 2002 near the site of the 2000 Cerro Grande fire near Los Alamos, NM.
