AROUND BRAMBLETON Fall Festival 2012 is Tomorrow! – The Brambleton Fall Fest is this Saturday October 6th, from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. Join us for concerts, rides and amusements, kids’ activities, face painters, glitter tattoos, vendor marketplace, food vendors, beer sales and more! There will be a dog adoption event held in Legacy Park from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., so even if you aren’t in the market for a new family pet, stop by to give these pups some love! Geocaching will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in front of the welcome center. The cost for the festival is $10 for children 3 and up, Adults are $5, and children 2 and under are free. If you bring your Brambleton or Summerfield pool passes, you can receive $5 off per family (2 adults and their children) Download the flyer here. Brambleton Day Parade – Fall Fest Kick-Off – The Brambleton Day parade will kick off our Fall Fest tomorrow from Legacy Park/Town Center at 12:30 p.m. Various organizations will be marching as well as kids and parents with bikes, scooters, wagons and strollers, all showing off their Brambleton Pride. We will also showcase Brambleton’s pet population with a “Mutt Strut”. Brambleton BOO! – A tradition that was started 8 years ago has quickly spread throughout the neighborhood. There will be a fashion show featuring Brambleton residents as models, live entertainment by Ted Garber, and lots of prizes, promotions and gifts with purchase! Which Top Dog Will Grace the Cover of the 2013 Pawsitively Brambleton Dog Calendar? – The 2013 Pawsitively Brambleton dog calendar is still in production, but we will be unveiling the “cover dog” this Saturday at 12 PM in the Welcome Center. Come check out who made the cover and then head over to the Brambleton Day Parade & Mutt Strut with us. Dog treats and giveaways will be available throughout the afternoon in the Welcome Center, as well as a display of the calendar’s cover. Proceeds of the calendar will benefit the Friends of Homeless Animals and the Brambleton Group will be collecting donations for the shelter in the Welcome Center through December 21st. Check out our Facebook Events page for a list of some items currently on the shelter’s “wish list.” Friends of Homeless Animals Dog Adoption this Saturday – Don’t miss the Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) dog adoption in Legacy Park this Saturday from 1-3 PM. COUNTY CORNER Play Youth Rugby! – Loudoun Youth Rugby (LYR) is holding its first rugby clinic from 10:30 a.m. to Noon on Monday (Columbus Day), October 8th at the Loudoun Soccer Park located at: 19798 Sycolin Road, Leesburg, Virginia, 20177. The clinic is free and kids will receive a team tshirt. The theme is introduction to rugby for boys and girls ages 5 through High School. Our coaches will teach rugby basics and will have a non-contact rugby scrimmage for each age group. Please have your rugger wear shorts, t-shirt, cleats are preferred but sneakers will work and bring plenty of water. Ashburn Rotary Club Looks for Citizen of the Year – Ashburn Rotary is participating in a program to recognize unusually dedicated community leaders through a Citizen of the Year award. The recipient is to be chosen from the general public through nominations submitted by club members. This award is intended to recognize an individual who has stood out among the many unsung residents and heroes who have worked so hard serving our youth, schools, public safety, land use, transportation, the environment and more.
