TRANSIENCE Transience is an evidential yet experimental lm, which aims to explore, document and question the power and scale of the natural landscape, it’’s dramatic subtleties and it’’s sheer raw beauty. Filmed in March around the Tan Hill area of the Yorkshire dales, the lm takes in the extremes of the climate –– wind and snow being two major features, as well as the atmospheric power of the landscape and it’’s subsequent emotional effect. Inspired by the opening description of the Arthur C. Clarke short story of the same name, the piece aims to chanel the same Featuring a soundtrack utilising sound recordings taken on site as well as original non-diegetic instrumentation the lm explores land art and the notion of where video work lies within the genre. - Brad Hodgson May 2011
