Women’s Basketball Named Team of the Year The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team has been named the Champs Life Skills Team of the Year, awarded by Student-Athlete Affairs.

The Life Skills competition represents a competitive contest played by all the varsity athletic teams at Brockport. The competition provided a means by which

student athletes competed on behalf of their teams for points in different categories. Competition focuses on educating the student athlete, providing opportunities in team and personal enhancement, being an active role model and leader, enhancing team cohesion through community service as well as rewarding overall academic achievement. The Golden Eagles participated in events such as the Brockport Clothing Shelf, volunteering for the National Walk to School Day, Community Leaf Raking, HOPE- Read in Action, Big Sister Day with the Greece girls' modified basketball team, the Rochester Breast Cancer Walk, and the Wheelchair Basketball Game sponsored by Brockport Advocates for Students with Disabilities. The team also posted an overall GPA of 3.14 in the fall semester.

Sigrist Named Outstanding Athlete

Head Coach Nicole Beauregard announced that freshman Cecilia Sigrist (Rochester, NY / West Irondequoit HS) has been named the team’s Outstanding Athlete for the 2011-12 season.

Sigrist had an outstanding rookie season starting all 25 games as a freshman, led the team in rebounding (6.4 rpg) and was second in scoring (9.2 ppg). She was named The College at Brockport’s Athlete of the Week on 12/12/11 and to the Spring 2012 SUNYAC All-Academic Team for earning over a 3.3 GPA during the spring.

Date is Set for Annual Alumni Game Save the date on Saturday, October 27, 2012 for the Golden Eagles Women’s Basketball Alumni Game with more information coming in the next couple of weeks. We hope as many alumni as possible will be able to attend whether they plan on playing or just watching. The Alumni Game will start at 2pm followed by a 6pm reception at Flash’s Tavern. Please pass the date along to all the alumni you know so they can save the date and help make it the best alumni event possible.

Codi Battaglia • 5-2/Guard • (Rochester, NY / Aquinas Institute) Codi leaves Aquinas as their all-time leader in assists and steals. Averaging over eight assists per game as a senior, she helped guide the Little Irish to back-to-back Section V Championships and Class B State Final Championship appearances. Codi was named Aquinas Institute’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2012. Shelby Fogarty • 6-0/Guard • (Pittsford, NY / Pittsford-Mendon HS) Shelby averaged 17 ppg, 9 rpg and 4 blocks per game on her way to a Section V Championship while garnering Monroe County Player of the Year, Section V MVP and First Team All-State of New York Class A honors. Academically, Shelby made the honor roll every quarter of her high school career and plans to major in Nursing.

Breanna Fortney • 6-0/Forward • (Lorain, OH / Lorain HS) Breanna scored 12.3 ppg while ripping down 7 rpg as she helped lead Lorain to a Division I sectional championship. As a senior, she was named First Team AllLorain County and Lake Erie League. Finishing 3rd in her class academically, Fortney has been accepted into The College at Brockport’s Honors College.

Lexy Johnson • 5-7/Guard • (Mohawk, NY / Mohawk HS) Averaging 12 ppg and 2.2 steals per game, Lexy was named to the All-CSC Second Team her senior year and named to the Oriskany Christmas All-Tournament Team the last two seasons. Academically, Lexy is Vice President of her National Honor Society and earned CSC Scholar Athlete honors all four years at Mohawk. Sarah Kichman • 5-6/Guard • (Portville, NY / Portville HS) Sarah scored 15.6 ppg, dished out 4.3 apg and swiped 4.0 spg as a senior. A sharpshooter, she connected on 109 three point bombs over the last two seasons for the Panthers. Sarah was named to the All-CCAA II Second Team and was selected to play in the 14th Annual Senior High School Ladies Basketball Classic. Samantha Sorge • 5-7/Guard • (Webster, NY / Our Lady of Mercy HS)

Sam was named First Team All-Greater Rochester after averaging 17.1 ppg and 7.6 rpg during her senior campaign. She steered the Monarch’s to the Section V Class AA Finals and earned a spot on the Section V Class AA All-Tournament Team with her play. Sam was an honor roll student all four years of her high school career. Meg Stucko • 5-11/Forward • (Elba, NY / Elba Central HS) Meg was named First Team All-State of New York Class D and helped lead her team to a Class D State Championship as a senior. She leaves Elba as the program’s alltime leading rebounder, ripping down over 1000 boards in her career. Meg was part of three consecutive Class DD Section V Championships from 2010-12.

As a member of the NCAA Division III, The College at Brockport does not offer financial aid to students based on athletics. Consequently, student-athletes do not "sign" athletic grants-in-aid with The College at Brockport. The list above comprises students who have reserved a space in the Class of 2016 and who have indicated their intention to participate in the varsity sport of basketball.
