Each winter many people in our community are not able to afford to properly heat their homes. You can have a tangible impact on them during this time of year. Bring a new or gently used blanket to be given to people in our community who are in need. You can bring the blankets anytime after December 18th to the table in “The Gathering” or to the church office during the week. We will distribute these blankets through our partnership with “The Mission” in New Caney as they continue to minister to hurting people in our community.

A Word from Our Pastor

International Missions Offering

How much is generous? If you’re like me, you wonder about this every time you consider an option in giving. Every stoplight, cash register, every place we pause in a day seems to include a place to give. How much is enough to meet God’s idea of a child who is generous? This year our church family will study each Sunday in November what God’s call to generosity means. · Come with a heart open to God’s teaching as we deal with concepts like generosity, mercy, justice, aid to the poor, and how giving together changes those who do so. · Consider prayerfully the options in this handout for as many or as few places where your gifts can join the good news of Christ. · Pray about and consider a gift toward the Harvest Offering (Nov. 20) this year, which will go toward: · Mission Engagement trips in 2012. · An Outdoor Baptistery to share the joy of new believers. I think you’ll enjoy what God has in store. After all, learning about and becoming generous is merely becoming more like Him! “You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will show thanksgiving to God.” 2 Cor. 9:11

Expectantly,

Kevin McCallon, Pastor

All through the month of December!

Each year, as Southern Baptists, we give an offering that goes directly to our more than 5,000 full time missionaries who are serving all over the world. By working together, southern Baptist churches can make a greater impact for Christ and take good care of those who are serving in full time missions. This year, there are two ways to give toward this offering: 1.) Give toward International Missions by marking your check, envelope, or online gift “Lottie Moon Christmas offering” 2.) Purchase a Christmas ornament that you can hang on your tree and remind your family to pray for the missionaries around the world. Each ornament costs $15. With the purchase of an ornament, you are also providing a Bible in the language of an unreached people group in Turkey.

Toys for Children in Need There are two opportunities to give toward helping children in our area have a Christmas that they would not otherwise have. All toys must be received by December 11th.

This year’s Harvest Offering will go toward two very important initiatives: 1.) Mission efforts during our “Year of Engagement” in 2012. There will be multiple ways of being involved in God’s work here in our area and around the world. 2.) The construction of a beautiful new outdoor baptistery to gather around each time another person professes faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. You can give your offering anytime this season. But, on Sunday November 20th, as we gather to share a meal together, we would like to celebrate what God’s people have given toward this very special offering. Simply mark your check or envelope “Harvest Offering” or use our online giving option and put “Harvest Offering” in the notes.
