Our Milestones 1985 Bowman and Brooke opened for business on February 1, 1985 with 14 attorneys and offices in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Phoenix, Arizona.

1994 We tried our 100th jury trial early in 1994. We grew to more than 150 timekeepers in 1994.

Bowman and Brooke held its First Trial Skills College in Brainerd, Minnesota. Four Bowman and Brooke partners completed six trials in three states in our first year. 1986 Four trial teams went to verdict during our second year. We completed our first California trial. 1987 Bowman and Brooke grew to 25 attorneys. We went to trial eight times in 1987. 1988 Eleven Bowman and Brooke trial teams tried cases to verdict during 1988. 1989 Within our first five years, we tried cases in 34 courtrooms in nine states. 1990 Bowman and Brooke held its Second Trial Skills College in Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota.

During 1994 we picked 38 juries and added six more states to the list of places where we have tried cases. 1995 We held our Third Bowman and Brooke Trial Skills College in Brainerd, Minnesota. We went to trial in 38 courtrooms for the second year in a row and added eight more states to our trial list. 1996 We tried our 200th case early in 1996. We went to trial 40 times during the year. 1997 Bowman and Brooke fielded 42 trial teams during 1997. We received our 250th jury verdict. Bowman and Brooke was included in The National Law Journal’s “Major Defense Verdicts of 1997 – Honorable Mention Defense Wins”. The National Law Journal featured Bowman and Brooke in its page one article “Got Case? They’ll Travel”.

Bowman and Brooke opened an office in Detroit, Michigan on October 1, 1990. 1991 We opened an office in San Jose, California on August 16, 1991. We opened a second California office in Los Angeles on October 28, 1991.

1998 With 46 trials in 1998, we reached a five year total of 200 trial appearances (1994-1998). 1999 We opened our sixth office in Richmond, Virginia on April 15, 1999.

Bowman and Brooke grew to 50 attorneys. With 33 more trials in 1999, we recorded our 300th verdict. 1992 Our trial teams went to trial over a dozen times in 1992. Bowman and Brooke was recognized for the first time in The National Law Journal’s “Who Represents Corporate America” List in 1992. 1993 With the promotion of five associates and the addition of another five lateral partners, the Bowman and Brooke partnership increased to 35 partners. We went to trial in 26 different venues in 13 states and Canada during 1993.

2000 Our 75 attorneys went to trial 36 times during 2000 in places that ranged from Nome, Alaska to Abilene, Texas. Bowman and Brooke was listed in The National Law Journal’s “Top Defense Wins of 2000 – Defense Verdicts of the Year”.


2001 To support emerging client demand, we substantially expanded our data collection, data analysis, and litigation support personnel and technology.

2008 We tried 23 cases in 12 states. Bowman and Brooke earned the DRI Law Firm Diversity Award.

We held our Fourth Bowman and Brooke Trial Skills College in Plymouth, Minnesota. 2002 We grew to 100 attorneys. We took our 400th verdict in 2002. 2003 We took 45 cases to verdict in 14 states. Arizona Attorney published its cover article “Speedy Trial Lawyers, an Auto Defense Practice Grows”. 2004 By the middle of 2004 Bowman and Brooke attorneys took their 500th verdict. Corporate Legal Times featured Bowman and Brooke in its article “National Counsel Gain Popularity with GCs, Corporate America Increasingly Turns to One Firm to Head Up Major Litigation”. 2005 We grew to over 150 attorneys and over 250 timekeepers. We tried 32 cases in 14 states. We held our Fifth Bowman and Brooke Trial Skills College in Plymouth, Minnesota.

2009 The Legal 500 ranked Bowman and Brooke #1 for Automotive/Transport Product Liability and Mass Tort Defense. Bowman and Brooke is recognized by Chambers USA as one of the nation’s Leading Product Liability Firms. Bowman and Brooke received Crain’s Diversity Award. Bowman and Brooke was named to The National Law Journal’s inaugural “Hot List”. Bowman and Brooke is named by Product Liability Law360.com as a 2009 Defense Firm of the Year. Bowman and Brooke is named a “Go-To Law Firm for Litigation” by The American Lawyer for pharmaceutical, automotive and product liability litigation. On December 1, 2009, Bowman and Brooke opened a seventh office in Columbia, South Carolina. 2010 On February 1, 2010, Bowman and Brooke celebrated its 25th Anniversary. Once again, The Legal 500 ranked Bowman and Brooke #1 for Automotive/ Transport Product Liability and Mass Tort Defense.

Bowman and Brooke received a DRI Law Firm Diversity Certificate of Merit. The Hennepin County Bar Association in Minnesota recognized Bowman and Brooke with its Diversity Award. 2006 Bowman and Brooke trial teams tried 39 cases in 16 states in 2006.
