It is 1932, a few months before Hitler’s rise to power. A young woman lies unconscious in the woods outside Berlin. A handbill is found nearby, advertising a public lecture by Albert Einstein. When she awakes, it turns out that she has lost her memory. The search for her identity begins. The story of The Einstein Girl is inspired by Philip Sington’s novel The Einstein Girl. version) O Written by: Annemarie Hagenaars in collaboration with Sylvia Einstein Girl by Philip Sington.

56. THE SEAMSTRESS EVA SCHIPPERS A.K.A. SHE-MAN TROUWGEBOUW, DE VERDIEPING O 6 EURO O 3/9,4/9, 5/9 22:00 – 22:25 An auditive installation performance by Eva Schippers a.k.a. She-Man In a dark industrial factory a group of seamstresses are working, rapidly sewing red and white strips of fabric together. The small machine lamps only illuminate the sweaty faces and frantically moving hands of the women. Chakk-A-chikk-A-chackk-A-chikk-a-chak-a-chak-chak-achak-akk-chak, the sounds of the sewing machines create an intense atonal rhythm, a sensory experience of ambient noise in the dark. Every workstation and each tool is separately amplified: You hear the snip, snip of the scissors, abruptly cut off conversations, indistinct murmur from the radio in the background…

What is it, that constantly drives us into getting to know other people? Falling for them, giving one selves away to the risk and the excitement of a new connection? That is the “funny feeling”, this strange desire and lust to expose oneself to someone else in order to exist. “there’s something about love” works on the edge of performance, biographical story, personal attraction, and with a hell lot of feelings. Concept, Performance & Text: Beatrice Fleischlin and Antje Schupp

Four preludes to history is a bundled sequence of all of the preludes in Michael Karr’s newest work The symphony that’s beginning to end: a comprehensive audio-visual recomposition of music history, which consists of 9.000 fragments of recorded music from 1800 BCE up to today. The fragments, in written and audio form, are layered in a dynamic sequence lasting 200 minutes over 4 chapters and will be performed by three musicians sharing 20 instruments on one stage.
