BSPC People . . . who’s in-house? Each issue we get to know a BSPC professional from one of BSPC’s member firms and this week we are speaking to - Vicky Maxwell from Hastings & Co Tell us about your role within Hastings & Co? I’m a Law Society Registered Paralegal. I’m a qualified conveyancer and deal with all aspects of house purchases, sales, remortgages, transfers etc.
How long have you worked with the firm? Over 11 years now
What do you enjoy most about your job? The client contact. I love meeting new people and doing my best to help my clients in a stressful time of their lives when they are moving home.
What keeps you busy when you’re not at the office? My 3 year old son, Ben, my 2 horses, 2 dogs, 11 chickens & 7 ducks & a husband but he looks after himself! I regularly compete at dressage with my horse Flynn. Im also in the middle of another Law qualification in Wills, Trusts and Executries distance learning via Strathclyde University.
Tell us about your home or dream home? My home is my dream home. We are surrounded by fields on 3 sides and I have all my animals on my doorstep. It’s a wonderful place for my son to grow up.
Name two things you can’t live without? Chocolate and my wellies. What would be your ideal holiday?
Where’s your favourite place in the Borders?
I never have time to go on holiday so anywhere in the UK or abroad would be ideal!
Coldstream. I lived my childhood there and have so many happy memories and places there.
What’s your greatest achievement? My horse Flynn. I backed him and brought him on myself from a youngster. We now have a fantastic bond and have had lots of success in different equestrian disciplines but he’s particularly talented at dressage.

What natural talent would you like to have? To be on time!
